Once again, you make a great point. But if he's given the wink wink nod nod that he'd be taken top 5 if he came out, then go, take the money, and hope that a team isn't stupid enought to do what you have correctly alluded to- throw him to the wolves and create damage that a team can only hope to be later undone. I'm sold on Stafford, but God knows I've been wrong before.
Just wanted to remind any one interested that UCF is playing on ESPN right now and if you want to get a good look at Joe Burnett. On the first possession, he had a nice open field tackle on the ECU back.
So far nothing but backpedals and side-steps on defense from Burnett. Saw him get tested once at the 14:31 mark in the 2nd quarter and he ran the route better than the WR so ECU just threw it away. That was the only throw I saw his way. As mentioned previously, he had an open field tackle on the ECU 'back which ended up a 3 and out. On ST's, Burnett has made some nice plays though. Scooped up a punt with one hand and gained some yards. Two other punt returns from him in which he made some nice moves to gain yards. Second half, one pass thrown in his direction. He let the Receiver go by on an out route. Looked more like that was suppose to be the Safety's cover. Playing a lot of loose coverage. At the 11:40 mark, ECU Quarterback had a rollout designed to the left, which was Burnett's way, and he had to hold on to the ball because Burnett had his man covered. ECU's QB got sacked. Tested him in the reed zone at the 7:57 mark but he covered his man and the play resulted in an over-throw. Still not much other than straight backpedals and side-step, looking at the QB.
