I feel this pertains to the fins in a round about way. I do feel he would get brought to Miami if/ when released. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3448330
Terry is still a solid WR. Even at 50%, hes still better than the current cast of WRs we have now. Sign him for the right amount, knowing hes not going to be here more than a year or two.
When I glimpsed the title, I thought Ted Ginn wanted to be released. But this is a very interesting situation.
What with Culpepper and Leftwich affairs I'd have thought NFL owners would have got the message by now. Either you honor your side of the contract by allowing a healthy player to train and compete for a position on the team or you cut them.
Maybe at 50% it's a stretch. But at 80%, not a stretch. Terry Glenn has had a great career and still has gas in the tank. We could use a veteran guy like him. Bring him on.
Sam Hurd (local San Antonio boy now with the Cowboys) said on a local radio show about a month ago that he's worked out with Terry this off-season and he's just amazing. Said you couldn't tell that he's had knee surgery by the way he's running his routes.
If he will sign a one or two year deal for reasonable mney I would love to have him. He is the *ideal* mentor forTed Ginn. They have similar styles, are both burners, and even share an alma mater in the Ohio State University. He is also a Parcells guy (though it took time for the Tuna to warm up to him, initially.) Would like to see him here. Even if he gets injured, he can still mentor Ginn, so I'm not too cocerned about that. Then, I imagine the WR's would look like (in no particular order): Glenn Ginn Wilford Hagan Bess ...mayyybe one of Kircus, Camarillo, Lymon if one performs well in camp AND on special teams. Otherwise we stash the best two of those on the practice squad. Of course, Glenn has to win his freedom first. Bpk
Does he really want to come here ?? Afterall, we all know this is a rebuild and we're no where close to competing...heck, we even have questions at our strongest position (running back)...not to mention QB, the OL gelling, fullback and TE....and that doesn't even include the D ?? He obviously has the Parcells connection, but do we really have room for him ?? Do we want to tie up a roster for a guy who may only be with us for a year or so, who has become injury prone due probably to his age, even tho he may still be able to play another year or so ?? In some ways this also sounds like JT, but it's not the same situation though...you can't compare them due to JT's health and ability compared to Glenns. If they are/were looking to move JT out, why would they look to bring Glenn in ?? I just don't see the need...
Does he still have his speed, that has always been his thing being a deep threat, because if it's gone he's not worth much, I don't see him being a possession receiver.
He is Ted ginn, ten years ago. Think about how miuch he can help Ginn mature. Help Ginn understand his own game as a speedster. help Ginn adapt to Parcells-football. He is the perfect mentor for Ginn. He is probably going to get injured, which means our young guys would get to keep playing and developing while Terry could mentor them. I like that idea. Even though Beck struggled last year, having Trent Green around to mentor him all year helped him accelerate his development. f Beck is better this year, part of the reason why is the accelerated pace of his learning with guys like Trent last year. Bpk
I'd gladly take Terry on this team...if he has 75% of his usual speed him and Ginn could be a dangerous duo.
Not sure this will even qualify as a release or it will get to this point. Terry is just speaking up and playing ball.. Not even sure how valid signing a waiver for an injury is with the league rules..
I'd be happy if we picked up Glenn, if for a reasonable amount and a short term contract, which i'm sure it would be given his age. But his services, experience, work ethic would all be a welcome to our team.
I would never agree with this. At 50% he's better than any receiver we have?!? He's better than any at 100% but not 50%.
Glenn and Ginn would be a little confusing to say though... LOL! Or Ginn and Glenn... Glinn or Glenn or Ginn or Genn, LOL! Good veteran presense if it happened.
Damn. They must be willing to make some sort of deal if hes softening up. We need a veteran on offense, period, and Glenn is a perfect fit here for all kinds of reasons.
