http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7379437/akron-zips-hire-terry-bowden-coach I have little doubt he'll be better than 2-22 over the next two seasons, and I doubt we'll lose 11 games by 30+ pts in that time frame either. Honestly, we can't go anywhere but up. Hopefully Bowden can get the play on the field to be representative of the school and facilities. A couple more seasons of bowl qualification would be nice.
That is a great pickup for Akron, N Alabama was sort of the go to place for Div I guys who ran into problems at their programs and needed to play. N Alabama was also a go to spot for CFL scouts.
Even better, I just saw Chuck freakin' Amato was hired as the DC. Hopefully the past few seasons of giving up 40+ pts seemingly routinely will be over.
Akron's biggest problem on D http://www.ohio.com/polopoly_fs/1.4...e.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_500/image.jpg ^^^^^^Worst DC ever....there's a reason Wisconsin was more than happy to let this fool come to Nebraska.....he flat out blows as a DC
I actually feel bad for the guy....his kid was diagnosed with leukemia when he was the DC at Minnesota, and quickly got his bag cut as a part of Tim Brewster's staff. And ever since his stint in Lincoln he hasn't had anything go his way..
