If you guys have been watching tonights game Browns V Bronco's, Brady Quinn's QB rating is 131.1 right now. How Cameron picked Ginn over Quinn really puzzles me because I feel we could have picked Ginn in the 2nd or 3rd round..... d-1
True but everyone speculated Quinn would be gone, and when he dropped to us, it seemed so automatic, because we needed a QB. That being said, I like Henne and what Pennington are doing, but I was a big fan of drafting Brees and Quinn when we were seeking a QB..... d-1
At this point in time, I'd still take Ted Ginn over Brady Quinn. For whatever reason, we aren't using Ginn as much as possible.
What it comes down to is Henne vs Quinn and I would rather have Henne. Period. I'm glad the chips fell the way they did.
not only that...we would have thrown him to the wolves last year with an injury depleted team just because he is succeeding elsewhere doesn't mean he would have here
Houston and Rams said they were targeting Ginn. Its 1 game, Denver didn't have much to go off of to game plan vs him.
No point in asking what could have been. We have a good QB situation atm, finally and thank god. Ginn is crap (hopefully that changes), there are a handful of players I wish we'd drafted over him, but it is what it is at this point.
A few others WR's have stuck out more than Ginn from those 2 classes. Desean Jackson is the first to come mind. He may not be a pro bowler, but he's made more of an impact than Ginn. I said maybe it would change, I didnt call him a bust or completely give up hope of him developing into a decent WR.
I honestly do not see Ginn as craptacular right now Shoes, to me we are not getting the ball in his hands enough. We finally put him back on kick returns, he is doing "okay" as a Wr..
Lol he has McNabb throwing him the ball. Put Ginn on the Cowboys, Eagles, Colts, Patriots, Washington, Packers, ect and you would see Ginn put up solid numbers. The thing is Pennington doesn't like to take chances down field like the other QB and risk an INT he goes for the sure thing. You see every game Chad hesitates looking down field at Ginn and decides to throw th5-8 yard pass. Ginn is in no position to do anything because they do not use Ginn as a primary deep threat because the team is all about moving the chains. You saw glimpses of what Ginn can do against Buffalo.
If he doesnt fit our offense that's fine, but it isnt exactly an argument that's going to convince me he was a good pick.
how did I know this thread was gonna pop up tonight? I love Ginn and think he will be a big piece of our team for years to come. He has shown the flashes, now just needs to do it consistently. As he grows, that will happen. by the way, Brady Quinn is 0-1.
I saw this thread coming a mile away. Sure at the time it seemed like it was a questionable pick and obviously every time Quinn plays we will see the comparisons. I am glad we have Henne instead of him and I think once we have a stronger armed QB starting (This is not a knock on Pennington, I hope he starts through next year) Ginn will show us a lot more. There is no need to compare the 2, because they are totally different players. It may or may not have been the best pick, but I am content with the way things have gone.
What's interesting is no one is talking about Beck...at the time people were fine w/ passing on Quinn because Beck was going to be better, now he doesnt even get mentioned.
because I think people understand that it's working out anyway. Beck probably won't be the answer, Henne looks promising and Pennington is playing very well. If Henne and Pennington weren't in the equation I think people would be talking about it more. Now that we don't need Quinn, fans can be a little more patient with Ginn. And it's starting to pay off as it looks like Ginn is getting better as the season goes on.
Ted Ginn Jr. - 2,673 total career yards. Brady Quinn - 287 total career yards. Ted is winning by a lot.
Who is this Beck you speak of...? I was a big Brady Quinn supporter before the draft I wish we had taken him, but what's done is done... Hell, I felt the same about Drew Brees during the draft when we picked Jamar Fletcher (and when he was a FA). All we can do is go forward.
Their careers are forever linked together... If you didn't that before, where have you been? This has and will always be the case.
We arent the only team that passed on Quinn. By your logic, Quinn is linked to all 20 players that were taken ahead of him. Get over it.
Why even bring Quinn up, he is not on our team. Hell were not even playing the Browns this year. Ginn=Miami Dolphins Quinn=Cleveland Browns
The argument always was what would you rather have Quinn and Steve Smith or Ginn and John Beck. I know my answer (and it is not the one we went for). It's a stupid argument in a lot of ways because what is done is done, and I hope to be utterly wrong on this one. BUT we passed on a potential franchise QB for a WR that even at the time had questions on whether or not he had the size and route running and hands to play in the NFL. I hope not, but I do honestly believe that one of these days all these threads we are reading will sound a lot like the Jet fan rationalizing that the Jet front office knew something they didn't when they passed on Sapp (because of course the geniouses that gave us 1-15, and a draft which has almost been completely erased from this team, must be right).
the only time i'm debating ted ginn vs brady quinn is when the dolphins and the browns line up on opposite sides of the field to play one another. and then i'll hope henne throws a bomb deep to ginn.
I wanted Quinn to begin with but we have Ginn now and there's nothing we can do about it so really no point in debating even if Ginn falls back to struggling. As for Quinn, even if it was the Denver defense, still a good first start and I wish him well (until he plays us).
iam one of the proud 1 percent, also called him being a better corner...thank you...thank u very much..lol
I was one of the Allen bashers but I admit he's played pretty good this season and I'm kind of warming to him.
i haven't bashed or praised him but the guy has been through 3 different regimes and two positions. i can see how that would throw someone off.
i agree Quinn is the better pick at 9 but Ginn wouldn't of lasted until the 2nd or 3rd round. None of us know for sure that Quinn would had his pysche damage as Beck has shown. Last yrs team was destined to fail bad like they did and Parcell's and company would of still taken over the FO. maybe im in the minority but i would still take Quinn & a WR (Gonzalez) or someone else over Ginn/Beck any day of the week. hindsight is 20/20 as someone earlier posted.
