http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OBjUKd0lOEE If his hands are as good as advertised, which they look to be, you will surely see big plays at the next level, sees the field beautifully when the ball is in his hands, peripheral vision of the field allows him to make cuts and take angles that only enhances his speed, we know that the special gear is there, we know the extra quicks and lateral quickness joins that speed, all combined with hi level instinctual running skills, this is a complete football player if there is one..
I saw up until the block he lays in beginning.....I'm starting to turn. WR's that can catch and score are great, but ones that can catch and score and can block........that makes me happy. Bring me WVU 2 starting WRs and I will be very happy.
The more I watch of Austin the more I want him, but not at #12. This team can't afford that luxury IMO. I'd be happy as hell to take both WVU WRs with Hartline and Wallace though. That'd be a fierce WR corps. Bess to Indy or St Louis for a 5th.
You take him at 12 or you won't get him. I'd worry more about some team like Cleveland or Buffalo nabbing him before he even gets to us, than considering any chance at all he'd make it to 42. I don't know why this team cannot afford such a luxury. We don't have any glaring holes that taking Tavon would prevent us from filling. A team like Arizona is one that cannot afford that luxury. They are in dire need of OLinemen and a QB.
I think the plan all along has been Wallace on one side, Hartline as the reliable possession receiver opposite, and Austin in the slot. Just curious their plan at TE b/c that baffles me ATM.
agree.... and it's not like there's an abundance of special talent in this year's first round crop to deter the selection of Austin.
I'd love both WVU WR! But I wouldn't quibble with the value too much if we added Wallace and Austin. I also wouldn't trade Bess b/c I believe the continuity for RT is important. I'd rather let Bess go in FA next season if we felt we were set at WR w/o him and forego the 5th. We might even get a 5th back as a compensatory pick for losing Bess. Even if we don't, he's relatively cheap, reliable and I want that continuity more than a 5th round pick.
I could see us adding Austin and not draft another receiver...... and just roll with Wallace, Hartline, Austin, Bess, Matthews, and Binns.
I think I'd try to sign Bennett as a UFA, he'd be the on the line Y, and draft a guy like Ertz or Reed to be the Joker or H-Back.
Very possible. Free agency will tell us more as to which positions we address. It would sure be sweet to keep Austin and Bailey together on Miami though.
If we sign Bennett I'd think we'd leave TE alone early on in the draft since we still have Egnew whom I don't think we've given up on. Perhaps an Hback later like Gragg?
I could see it but I would want to take advantage of the talent in the draft and I'd be anticipating the potential loss of Bess next year. And while I see Binns as an okay WR with some potential, it wouldn't stop me from getting a guy like Bailey who IMO has #1 WR potential.
That sounds good too. A little hedge against Egnew busting, without quite the investment that Reed or Ertz would take.
Don't get me wrong; I wouldn't mind some of those earlier round TEs but that seems a little steep having Bennett, Egnew, Clay, and a 2nd/3rd round TE.
just Wallace and Austin..could you think of two more dangerous complimentary components? I know what you meant...we don't really need to add that 2nd receiver in the draft with that coup..it will be hard not to though when are favorites come up in the 2nd and third round.
add in a dangerous TE and we'd have a nice offensive makeover in one offseason, eh. If we have Wallace & Austin, I still wouldn't mind adding one of those other receivers we like if the value is there. Swope or Bailey in the 3rd. I'd still like Wheaton but I've had a soft spot for him. Imagine the speed and big play ability with Wallace, Austin, and Wheaton. lol
