Well, it seems intelligence is NOT an issue.

Seems like a very intelligent and humble young man. I really hope he does well and becomes a starter. Him being huge and not obese certainly fits the mold of what Ireland and Parcells are trying to build.

Great video thanks for the link. It does look like he is a "Parcells" type of guy. Humble and hungry to compete.

suddenly there is lot of competition in the Pod @ guard:

Dimitri & Incognito have the edge to start, both are proven bulls
w/ John Jerry left to compete w/ Donald Thomas
as the developmental project & back-up offensive guard
should be interesting to watch the Donald
this is the crucial year in his development
& he'll come out w/ a vengeance trying to hold his start @ RG
we shall see: let them compete. competition is the elixir of success

    w/ the Orca-5:

    predictions are not in order,
too much competition in the Pod
to even make an educated guess @ this point...
    having said that
doubt that JJ will win the start @ either Guard

There is no reason John can't develop into an elite guard. None. He has size, agility and he's "country strong". With the requisite talent and physical gifts, the most important factor with any player's development is attitude. Humble and hungry - that's Tony's motto for a reason.

    Friend Aqua:
I agree: there is no reason John can't develop into an elite guard.
the defining word in your post is develop

:cupid:develop, evolve, learn, great potential, rookie year, tremendous competition, etc.:danceline:it is what it is...

I hope that our starting Right Tackle gets the message as well. He would be a lot better with a little less mass to handle out there..

not to worry, the BookEnds are solid
    the best in the NFL
they will develop Murtha to backup Carey
& Carey will be the first backup @ LT 4 Long

I do not think Dimitri can compete with the talent we currently have at the guard position.

and Carey knows it. his weight is totally an issue and he has said it before but plain and simple he can't stay away from the buffet table. Vernon would be an elite RT if he could control his weight.

    Dimitri Tsoumpas G: 6-4 315
yes he can & will compete:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimitri_Tsoumpas
the Calgary Stampeders acquired the second overall pick in the 2008 CFL Draft and used it to draft Tsoumpas.[1] He was named the starting right guard, while fellow rookie Jesse Newman was the starting left guard.[1] He debuted for Calgary, in week one against the BC Lions.[1] Tsoumpas started all 18 games including all playoff games which included the 96th Grey Cup.[1] He helped Calgary's running backs average 134.6 yards per game with 6.4 yards per carry.[1] He was also key in helping the Stampeders allow the fewest sacks in the CFL.[1] Joffrey Reynolds the CFL's leading rusher gained 1,310 yards with the help of Tsoumpas.[1] Following the season he was Calgary's nominee for the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie award.[1]
Tsoumpas was expected to remain a starter in 2009.[5][6][7]
    [edit] Miami Dolphins
Tsoumpas agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League on January 8, 2010.

Dimitri @ 24, w/ one of the fastest rising offensive lineman in the CFL and has already gained plenty of experience and accolades in two pro seasons. He has all the intangibles & experience playing both right & left guard.

This guy has man boobys. He has enough extra skin to redo the seats in most cars. Wonder why Terrance Cody dropped in the Draft. Cody has enough room in those boobs to hold enough milk to breast feed every baby in Bulgaria, for a month, maybe two.

    I did omit him & shouldn't have
Garner will compete to start @ RG.
not an easy omission to make
    however
consider the depth of this Pod

let them all compete  competition is the elixir of success

Very nice, does not change the fact he is not as good as the other guards we currently have on the roster, with the exception of course because of Smiley due to his shoulder. May be a good PS player, if there is room.

judge him not. Carey is a PanCake Monster. the best RT in the NFL & an excellent LT to boot. do not be deceived by his Sumo wrestler style physique, the guy will hurt you in a game. even when he trims down for the season he won't be pretty by most people's standards, the guy earned the nickname "PanCake Monster" @ the university & wasn't for eating them.

He needs to trim down mucho. Will still be a run based offense but with Marshal and Hartline and the others, we are going to be tossing that football around more often then we have been used to and the opposing DC are going to send more then one man around Careys side to get Henne.

The more mobil he is the better with what he is going to face with this new pass weapon we have taken into the fold. Carey is a good kid, was at a golf tournament with him a few weeks ago for one of his charitys at the Ft. Lauderale CC. Actually, does not look too too bad, has a little ways to go but he has lost quite a bit, at least in my opinion he did.

    I presented the facts.
you are entitled to your opinion, which is as valid as mine about those facts.
I see him as a serious contender for one of the guard positions.
only time will tell who is right about the offensive line-up
    having said that
don't underestimate him, he is definitely in the race & ahead of most

Any professional athlete who does not train their body to reach its optimum level is not being the best player they could be...

Iam happy we did'nt draft Terrence Cody, and Vernon needs to get his sh$@ together..

One of the things I respect about this regime...Train the body to reach its potential, if not, cut their ***, they got issues...vernon being no different...boy better be workin this year, which he obviously didnt do last year..I call him boy, because a real man would train the body accordingly, its the least you can do when getting paid millions to play a game....jmo. I know he does good things for kids, its just a sensitive subject for me.

have to consider Vernon Carey played next to an inexperienced
Donald Thomas who played only two years in college before the NFL
although the Donald is tremendously athletic, he is raw & new to the game
this has not helped the PanCake Monster @ RT.
as Thomas improves or is replaced w/ a more experienced RG
Vernon Carey's game will improve proportionately  he will get his weight down

He has to because he is going to be facing a lot more blitz packages and stuntz then he has in the past.

    He's an elite RT now.

And if you put him back at LT, he's quite a bit better than average.

I'm feelin' you on that one DJ!! If they don't want to put in the time to keep in shape and maintain that then I don't want him on my team. He may be good but he could be more if he would get his act together.
