As expected, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson were both not in attendance as the Bengals opened voluntary OTAs on Tuesday. Housh is working out in California, as he did last offseason. Chris Perry, also as expected, returned to the field for the first time since breaking his ankle in November 2006. Johnson has threatened to sit out the season http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx
Yeah, they don't expect to be able to resign him as he will be commanding big money. Interesting is that he is 31 years old. EDIT: He will be 31 on the 26th of September.
If Housh leaves the Bengals, I wouldn't be surprised to see him join whatever team CJ lands with (presuming he gets traded). Those two are really chummy and with good reason. If I were Parcells, I'd ship my daughter to Cincinnati just to get the both of em or maybe just Housh.
What if his asking price is high? He is 30 years old and will be 31 this season. Do you still go after him?
Well, as long as it's not astronomically high, sure. Housh doesn't really have the wear and tear you'd think he would and there are a number of WR's of his caliber who can play for another 3-4 years.
I would think so too but teams will factor in that he's partnering up with another good WR so it limits his double-teams and his "age". A deal around (~$4-7 mil) is not out of the question and well worth it.
