a pro team take a page from a college playbook. the formation that the phins used was called "the wild hog". it was introduced to football by Houston Nutt at Arkansas. watched Darren McFadden and Felix Jones use it as seniors. all 5 TDs were scored using it. the pats didn't know what hit em, good ole Belichick was outcoached for once.
It was the brainchild (for us anyways) of David Lee who was also at Arkansas the last few seasons prior to joining the 'Boys...
The wild hog didn't retain the QB i thought? hence them calling this one the "wildcat". either way the origins are correct, and i love the call. college football is often more exciting than NFL just because of the crazier plays.... more fun to watch. I think its obvious that we can thank Lee for this and NOT Henning.... i think Henning was out of his comfort zone in the playcalling, but it obviously worked. i credit Lee's pushing of using this play to the success. I'm glad Henning finally adapted and started doing things that fit the talents of this team though. success on all fronts! (except ST... they sucked.)
