The biggest obstacle would be that he's sort of a piece of **** and didn't seem to want to take any pay reduction. Harrison can play linebacker way better than most edge defenders. I think he's very much the kind of guy who could play a Von Miller style position, but I'm not sure you depend on a guy his age to start.
Unfortunately I believe we would take a huge cap hit if we cut him this year. He's all but gone after this season though.
Our starting LBs, Misi, Dansby, Burnett, are a team strength. I just cannot wrap my arms around any notion that we'd be better off this year to gut that unit. Just creates another hole that needs to be filled.
I could see drafting Jarvis Jones, if he falls, as someone to groom as Koa Misi's replacement. He'd still provide a nice pass-rush option, thus keeping Misi fresh and not having to play nickel snaps.
I'm all in on Tavon Austin at 12, but if we go defense, then Jones would be high on my list. He could be our version of Aldon Smith or Bruce Irvin as a rookie. Just be a pass rushing DE in the nickel package. Even if he played only 500 snaps, if could produce somewhere between what Smith and Irvin did, it would be well worth the 12th pick.
