Well now, the retooling of the ST continues, Smith was the "Returner" and Walden was a 4 core ST player, when a player is a specialist they have to stand out or they will be gone. Hmm, Gary Stills? Adalius Thomas was a ALL Pro ST player at one time.
I thought it was Culver? Doesn't matter, the ST unit has not been good this year, that was his one job and reason for a roster spot. Ikaika now steps into Walden's role, but we have one additional roster slot.
I just hope it improves soon. It's hard to win games in the NFL when you constantly have to drive 75 yards and the other team only has to go 55.
Same thing happened in 08, of course it being Special Teams most have simply forgotten what it was like when every return could go for a TD.
We were do to churn another player lol. Must have waited since we have a extra day of practice lol. I know Padre loves this stuff lol. SO DO I
I'm not sure if you are a baseball fan SS, but Moneyball and SABR and the rest of it is all the rage, and Ireland uses something similar, the theory is there are hidden ineffeciencies in any sport. To me, Special Teams are the largest area of potential harvesting of additional yardage as few people pay much attention to it, and it tends to be where backups, depth players, and young players wind up and sort of fill in. As we have seen in the last two weeks, v Minny with Fields pinning the Vikes inside the 15, and the Jest, with there 150 return yds (blocked punt was good for minus-43 yds) ST was the deciding factor. That is why I pay attention to it, I also believe no area on a team requires as small an investment for such a large return in terms of field position, Returns, turning the ball over, and even recovering onside kicks. I also am wondering if Bonamego is the right man for the job, as he does not seem to produce much dynamism in any phase of Special Teams play. I like UCLA's Frank Gansz jr.
the special teams is so bad man...watching some play's, and they are literally staying in their lane, running to their spot, and just crashing into their blocker like that's what their supposed to do, almost like their all doing their job's, position wise, and or where the scheme call's for them to be, but, while everyone is focused on their lane responsibility, noone is watching the ball carrier...It's horrible..
They called up Robert Rose from the practice squad. Surprised they didn't call up Humpty Geathers instead.
no doubt it was Walden on the missed block -- they reviewed it several times showing how he took the 'outside' guy - leaving the inside move open .... i was surprised he made the final roster to be honest -- based on STs to be sure ... but not now. Geathers has no motor .... that's his challenge -- if they can figure that out, like Soliai, we will have a very nice addition in him
Hah! First of all your nuts are under the command of your wife, you need a signed and notarized statement that you can actually spare one of them... Keith Armstrong is actually a much better ST coach.
