It doesn't take 5-8 years.
Losing to the Browns, Bills and Lions alone are reason for being fired.

Who has been fired after three years? I'm not talking top down (GM) overhaul. I'm talking about Heach Coach severed from the rest of the regime? You look around and it just doesn't happen. Especially when that coach made the playoffs in those three years with the only PRO quarterback provided.

He would of gained faith in the fans eyes if he would of cut loose Henning before the season's end. The fact that he let Henning drag him down all the way to week 17 shows me all i need to know about the guy. From a business stand-point if Ross doesn't fire him today he is going to have a rough time selling tickets next year due to the abysmal home record this year, thats just the way it is in Miami. That said Ross is a smart businessman and there are a few great names out there available right now and would definitely raise an eyebrow regardless of whether or not you like Sparano and would attract the masses next year, see where im getting at here. For the record, lets not be the experimental franchise ever again hopefully by hiring a guy with 0 solid background in offense or defense to "RUN" your football team. The man was an O-Line coach and our oline crumbled this year. His lack of offensive knowledge is the reason i would assume he let henning get him fired and his lack of defensive knowledge, well we all know what happened there, god bless Nolan for giving us a bright spot this season.

How wonderfully mediocre. The owner is going to see back to back 7-9 seasons with a 1-9 record in the last 10 home games who have played to relatively empty seats. Getting blown out in week 17 to a team that had nothing to play for doesn't help.

I might could purchase some of that if I didn't see Chad Henne benched this year. Dude got my respect for admitting no progress from the QB and sending in the veteran in an attempt to save the season.

Hard to really indict a coach that managed to win 7 games with Chad Henne as his QB.

Having said that, we really don't have enough info to really know who in the organization supported Chad Henne, or if Sparano indicated he thought Henne could be a successful QB.

To many losses for my liking, mediocre can go somewhere else, we want winners here in Miami.

That's something new from this fanbase? If the owner puts another QB on the field, 55+ thousand season tickets are going to be sold. The people came out to see the QB. They gave up on the QB.

That right there is enough reason to make a change. If the HC can not get his team up to play, then he is in the wrong position. Teams year in and year out that have no chance for a playoff birth go out and play hard for their coach, and those are the teams that seem to come back the next year stronger. The teams that lay down, like this team just did, are the ones in big trouble if no change is made. Then you add in that after 3 years he still has not learned how to manage the clock, does not seem to know how to change gears in the middle of a game, is loyal to a coach that the game has passed by and calls a real crappy game. Does not seem to coach to his players strengths (see Ronnie Brown).

I admire your willingness to stick with him and give him more time but, I can't for the life of me think of one reason to retain him.

Tony Sparano is respected by his players, owner and the media. He is a good coach. He deserves the time necessary to complete what he started. I believe 3 years is not enough time. Anything less is shortchanging the team, Tony Sparano and the fans. If the ownership of this team continues to replace the head coach, the systems, etc every three years and is not willing to stick the course, I for one will be looking elsewhere. It is a shame because this used to be the winningist team in sports history.......of any sport.

I can prove my point thru history.........5 coaches since 96 when Shula retired. What do we have to show for it.......mediocrity 113-111

I will answer your question 2 ways

Teams that are winning teams consistently stick with their coach

Pittsburg.....Cowher is a perfect example

We have had 5 coaches since Shula and 17 different QB's. We are 113-111

Sparano deserves more time to make adjustment and corrections

Jesus, you guys screamed for Chad Henne...............he gives it to you and now you guys want his head:pity:

It was Sparano's job to lose... if you had the slightest indication that your equipment was not going to hold up to the stress test and your ass was on the line wouldn't you do something about it? He didnt, well he tried and failed miserably because he kept a guy that has underwent TWO shoulder surgeries (who barely had an arm anyways) on the roster. He should of left Thigpen in there (yes i know he's bad too) and pray that Thiggy would of turned it around.

Should we have stuck with Wanny more too? Or how about Cam Cameron? The thing with Sparano is he just wasn't ready to be a HC yet. Parcells never allowed him to work up the ranks to become one. He went from O-line Coach to HC. He doesn't have the knowledge to run a team. Look at the three years he had with the clock management. No improvement at all.

We had a GOLDEN chance to do so but this regime decided that we build our team around a LT (Dont get me wrong i love me some Jake Long) instead of a QB who is now on a bye week in the playoffs.

Don't agree with you at all and I'll tell you exactly why.
Up to the midpoint of the year I would have agreed with most.

However, it's become readily apparent to me that the majority of the issues you just listed lay on the coaching staff.
This team underperformed with the talent it has.
Everyone can tell me all they want that this team has no talent on offense and I'll remind all of you that going into the year we looked at the personnel we had and everyone thought our offense would be strong this year.

The QB issue and whether Henne has no skill or if he's been killed by an inept staff will go on forever.
The injuries are what they are.

The real tell all you said yourself. "The team literally just showed up and went through the motions for a number of games".
That's coaching, preperation and motivation plain and simple. That is a cause from the top and nowhere else. A damning argument against Sparano and crew.
Why I do now believe this whole staff except for Nolan has to go. Sparano, Henning and Daivd Lee are the top 3 needing a first class ticket out of town pronto.

Sparano and Co should get 2 - 3 more years to put this thing together.

I understand everyone has their panties in a wad and it is natural to be calling for heads and wholesale changes.

The fact is making changes for the sake of making changes is never good. It takes 5 - 8 years to rebuild a team into a superbowl caliber team and most of us are only giving Sparano 3 years...........hog wash................he needs and deserves more time

Year 1 Sparano implemented his systems and coaches and went 11-5, evaluated talent and decided where he needed to make changes. Remember guys we totally changed our Defense.

Year 2 Sparano drafted, traded, and again evaluated talent with a mass of injuries. We got to get the first look at Chad Henne for 6 games. A peek if you will.

Year 3 Sparano looked to have things in place for a decent run. We were aware we had the top 5 hardest schedule in the league. We got Mike Nolan, Cammerron Wake emerging as a all pro, and our prize QB getting a entire year at the helm.............everyone was excited. We were improving........we DID improve.

We have several key injuries, A QB that plays like **** all year and under enormous pressure to perform , a field goal kicker hitting 61 yard field goals then can't make a field goal to save his life, a team that literally just showed up and went through the motions in several games, not just the last one and here we are 7-9

Sparano deserves to keep his job.

Sparano needs more time. 3 years is not enough. Changing is setting us back another 3-5 years. The real question here is can Sparano get it done with another 3 years time. I think he can and will if given the chance. It may not be obvious on the surface of our improvements, fans that follow the Phins everyday know where we have improved. Those fans can see the improvement.

To those of you who demanded we see Chad Henne and didn't care if we lost every game. Now you saw your man, we are 7-9, and some of you guys are the very ones calling for Sparanos head. That just isn't right!!!! You can't have your cake and eat it too. Well you could have if Henne played better:up:

I don't disagree it can take a while to build a team, but you expect to see some degree of intelligence in the process. Now I get that Tony keeps up with stats and has interesting notes on tendancies. But what he has in data he lacks in good instincts to be a head coach. The management of quarterbacks, the predictability of the offense (to the defenses around the league), and holding on to some outdated playbooks in the Parcells reportoire. Don't tell me you didn't have team speed and your offensive line was injured. You are an offensive line coach by trade, and you and Ireland are at fault for the lack of speed. Your guys on the field. You have a team that can not come from behind. You built a team that had to get a lead. You controlled over three quarters of a game against Indy and still lost because your philosophy is to manage the game into a close game. Problem is you had no killer instinct. You, Tony, shouldn't be in a close game with Buffalo, Detroit, and Cleveland if you have the talent. Your quarterback coach couldn't develop quarterbacks at the college level, and actually helps develop offensive plays that take continuity away from a young quarterback's development. Shame on you Coach Lee.
I will not go on further, but I don't disagree with your position, just that this staff is not the one to do it and has not demonstrated any ability to build a complete team (not just a defense). Exceptionally poor offensive drafts. Long is about it. When you have had three drafts and you are depending on undrafted free agents in major roles you are just lucky if they are good because you blew it in the draftable player assessments. Drafting White in the second round is almost unforgiveable.
This is not the staff to build in my humble opinion. Agree with your assessment of building teams, but disagree with who you say should be allowed to do it.

NO, we need a change and ASAP. Hire Gruden!!!! I really do not want to see Tony competing vs. Rex and Bill for the next five years. That will be sad.

Lets get a coaching staff that teaches players all year. Not just one who goes out and tells the players what the game plans are going to be.

If you watched the NE game, you would see players on the Patsies team that were brought along and shown how to do the simple things like tackle. After they earned their stripes, they are allowed to play. That allows the GM there to trade away what most fans think are their core players for multiple draft picks every year.

Bro this argument is severely flawed and very broad.
It leaves out all consideration of facts involved of why certain coaches failed while attempting to argue that "change" itself has put this franchise in the hole it's been in. That's not the case at all.

There are so many issues that has plagued this team over the stretch you're referencing it's not justified to even suggest the concept of "change" is what has killed this team.

Get Gruden in here!!!!!!! Get McNabb in here so we can capitalize on Brandon Marshall in his prime!! Sign VJACK!

Do you realize that NE's back ups outplayed us on Sunday and NE has a super young team and like 10 draft picks in this year's draft? I am all set with losing to them for the next 10 years.

It is consistency, being able to settle down and become better year after year. Not learning a system, to turn around and start all over again.

I dont agree with firing Mangini, the browns were BAD. He had alot of close games against some really good teams. Mistake Brownies.
