When Cobbs was out we weren't giving up a return TD every game.

Cobbs shouldn't remind you of Kevin Faulk. He isn't nearly as fast.

I love me some Cobbs with a little salt and butter.

He is intriguing in a sense that I want to see where he's going to fill in.There are many things he can do good. He's not great at any of them but he sure is good at alot of them.He brought excitement to the O last year before he got hurt and he "always seemed" to make positive yards (or plays) no matter where he lined up.That's a fact.
As the above have mentioned, keep him away from KO returns. Then watch this kid's potential sore this year.
I see lesser version Jenson in this kid with all the different things he can do.

Faulk set the all time SEC TD record.

Cobbs is a journeymen Rb who does not do a single thing as well as Faulk still does, and is coming off of an ACL.

Think about this, if Cobbs is really the #3 Rb:

Ronnie B coming back from a lis francs
    Ricky Williams is 33
PCobbs is coming back from an ACL tear.

We run the ball, that is your Rb crew, injury prone Ronnie, Ricky wore down as the season wore on, and it takes a yr to come back completely from an ACL.

I know he has been around a while but I was referring to the growth and development within our offensive system. Sometimes veteran players really hit their stride when they hit the right offensive scheme, Ricky is proof positive of that. I think TS sees that Cobb's can really flourish with this system when all the pieces are in place.

why couldn't Korey Sheets really flourish with this system when all the pieces are in place?

I am a Cobbs fan, however I do think Miami would be better off if Davis or Sheets beat him out.

I agree. Cobbs is getting up there in age (for a HB) and is injury prone, and if Sheets can prove he can do what Cobbs does better than the man himself then yeah. Till then, we'll stick with Pat.

He's like a 1999 Nissan Maxima. Not the flashiest, but it's not expensive and gets you where you need to go. But hey, if Sheets proves to be a say, 2005 Maxima, then I might take a second look that way.

There is a way around Cobbs returning kicks.

Allow a Db to handle it, someone like AJ Wallace from Penn State.

Would not be thrilled with that option as imho Pruitt/RGM/Wallace from SDSU/T Johnson are better than the average crop of UDFA's and AJ Wallce on returns means none of them make the roster barring injuries or trades.

I sure want Cobbs on our team, just so long as he earns it through fair competition. I see no reason to believe Tony Sparano won't let them all compete, Cobbs, Hilliard, Sheets, RGM, and I'll put my trust in TS to keep the right players on this team and in the games.

I do agree we are sorely lacking at the kick & punt return spots though. Hope RGM or some other player steps up for us in that regard, because as big a fan as I am of Davone Bess, he SUCKS at punt returns IMVHO.

(Edit: I left out R&R because they are a given IMO)

Not sure if I understand that, since he was signed as an undrafted free agent rookie out of North Texas by the Patriots in 2006? That would make him starting his 5th season this year if my math is right?
In 2006 he played with the Patriots in preseason, traded to Pittsburgh on Sept 1st where he was inactive for one game. Pittsburgh waived him and tried to sign him to their practice squad and he refused. Cobbs was signed to the Dolphins practice squad and was activated on November 27th. He played on Miami's special teams for three games and then was inacive for the final two games of the season, so he didn't really have a chance to show any thing in his first year. Cobbs is not great, but is solid at RB and could be replaced by a better option IMO.

I love Cobbs in his role. Great on STs, great hands out of the back field. Shifty and quick. Very good role player IMO

I'm curious as to where this idea came from that he has great hands. He has 24 catches in his career and I can't say I've ever seen him do anything spectacular in terms of receiving.

I dunno if this has been posted yet:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjEfmWpVPWM"]Cobbs to the House (80 yards)[/ame]

At about 15 seconds he hits another gear that's like wow. I like this guy. At 0:10 he gets the catch at about the 18 yard line. By 0:20, he breaks the plane. This guy has deceptive speed and with the good line we have, he can be a great asset.

Just don't let him return kicks...

What Cobbs did 2yrs ago means -0- now FAL, that is my point, Cobbs maybe was great for that scrappy 2008 squad, in 2010 he is a guy coming off of a ACL injury with two Running Backs ahead of him one of whom is injury prone, the other 33yrs old.

That is why Sparano is messin' up, the #3 Rb has to be more like a #2 Rb because chances are good, Ricky and Ronnie aren't finishing the season playing all 16 games.

You may be right Padre. It's something that definitely bears watching in training camp...

Or I could be dead wrong..:D

Sparano likes matchups maybe to much, it is better when one player has a physical mismatch on their opponent, that doesn't mean they win that matchup though, which makes all of that manuvering and scheming moot.

Like Pat White throwing the 60 yd pass on Opening Day, then not throwing another one all season quite like that...what is the point of that again?

    :dunno:

Well I guess we'll have to stop by the stud-#2-RB store on the way to training camp.

If Sheets beats him out, then great, if he doesn't then we're fine with Cobbs. He's not our starter and hopefully less reps will mean easier recovery from ACL tear.

I think your argument is completely flawed. IMO, Cobbs or Sheets are perfect choices for a #2 RB. You're so worried that our #3 RB is injury prone and won't be able to fill the shoes properly if our #1 and 2 RBs inevitably go down with injuries, when your real complaint is why is Ireland and Sparano content on keeping 2 injury prone RBs as our primary starters.

Yeah i know what youre saying. I agree that no one knows how he'll truly come back from the ACL tear. What im saying is that i don't think we should just dump him or not give him a chance to see what roles he can play for us because he may be able to return to 2008 form. Also, this is why i feel like Hilliard is someone who should be our 3rd RB and Cobbs is someone who should only be used in the 'gimmicky' and limited roles. Just my opinion though.
