But this was the cream of the crop for the first squads. When you look at the names highlight guys you like and why. Thanks,
what's the point here? do we think anybody from these two lists are going to come in and impact our team? or would it be just more of improving the bottom of the depth chart?
well if you look for a WR with upside, danario alexander is healthy enough to work out for teams again, he worked out for buffalo yesterday, i like him, obviously he is very injury prone, but when he plays, he has a knack for getting open deep, i would bring him in
Except for BJ Cunningham, none of them know the system, and we cut Cunningham. No one on that list can impact the team now. It would be improving the bottom.
In order Marvin McNutt, Danario Alexander and Tori Gurley. They simply cant be worse then Naanee or Armstrong.
Bring back Roberto Wallace! Hell I'd take any of the guys we cut over Naanee right now. Anyone got Pruitt's number?
Probably a developmental type that has a certain set of skills that could develop into something game worthy. I believe Borel and Gurley still have some potential, as well as Coale. In addition I had mentioned looking at practice squads and so I figured I would list the guys and make them visable instead of talking about them generally.
What's going on here? Are thy really in full desperation mode already? I put as much blame on the front seven as I do the secondary. They're the best in the league at stopping the run, but they can't get a consistent pass rush going. Which just hurts the already average secondary.
I think Danny Coale is the only one worthy of a phone call and that's if he's healthy. He's similar to Brian Hartline, which, as I understand it, is not welcomed here by some. I'll take it though.
I don't think they are in desperation mode at all. But roster churning as we have come to know it is about finding better talent. Pass rush is an issue, but the secondary can always use speed and skill. Every once in a while a guy hits it with one system over another. I don't really need to talk about the receivers. It is what it is.
As far as Miami is concerned I get the impression that Ireland is a little determined to prove he has addressed the receiver situation and will give guys like Naanee, Moore, and Armstrong every chance to succeed or fall further.
Honestly I doubt Ireland is all that confident in those guys. I just think he looks at the rest of the guys available and thinks they're all trash and that what we have may be bad but it's still better than that. Plus I think he's patiently waiting for young guys like Charles Clay, Lamar Miller, Rishard Matthews and Michael Egnew to finally 'get it' as far as the playbook is concerned, and start making a bigger impact in the passing game. The gatekeepers there are the coaches. They're the ones keeping those guys off the field, because they're not happy with their knowledge of the playbook.
It might be time to do a little exploration of whether Ireland has drafted guys with the intelligence (i.e., capacity to learn an NFL playbook, and if so, how quickly) needed by this particular offensive coaching staff, with the results of that informing what they do going forward.
Charles Clay doesn't strike me as smart. I have no idea on Rishard Matthews. Lamar Miller definitely doesn't seem like a smart dude. The exception there is Egnew. He's a very, very smart guy. But he's also arguably got the biggest transition to make.
He has ran a 4.38 40 and was projected 28 out of 281 WR's in the draft 6'.0 201lbs Sounds like a tire bumper if his foot is ok. I see one big problem he likes #19.
Well that would explain his "regression." You bring in a coaching staff that is running a more sophisticated offense, and now all of the sudden Charles Clay doesn't have the intelligence to contribute like he did last year.
If he doesn't then you simplify the offense for him and get him to make plays. The guy has ability out the ying-yang, so you find ways to get him into the game.
I disagree. That is short view thinking and our team has been plagued with that since Shula became GM. We have to take our lumps and build. I know, I know, we've been saying that for years, but there's been no building before. There is now. Ride it out.
4.50 but plays faster. Not 4.3 fast though. But he can run routes, catch the ball and play all 3 positions. Plus, adds value on ST's.
It's hard to question FBI but I don't see Clay as lacking. Miller's had issues with pass pro but even at the U, he wasn't awful; it's just that when BOB blocking is superseded, he runs into issues -- which all young backs do. I find it hard to believe this offense is more "sophisticated" than the previous one.
If Clay was having mental issues he wouldn't be on the field nearly as much as he is. He's just not being targeted, for whatever reasons.
