Some love for Wake ...from enemy territory no less: http://www.boston.com/sports/blogs/goingdeep/2013/05/cameron_wake_dolphins_afc_east.html Impressive stat. There are other links about the Phins, such as:
Alen got a little bit of love in his write up for Mike Poncey (who was ranked the tenth best player in the AFCE).
Great find. There is a lot of interesting reading in his original post and many reference links provided within each one. http://www.boston.com/sports/blogs/goingdeep/2013/05/introducing_the_countdown_of_t.html These are the Dolphins. 22. Randy Starks 21. Ryan Tannehill 19. Mike Wallace 10. Mike Pouncey 9. Rashad Jones 2. Cameron Wake
I am from Canada, obviously lol. I got to watch Wake play up here, and I tell ya, I had a chubby when we signed him. He was a monster here in the CFL, and never really doubted he could be as such in the NFL. I know there was some skepticism on the boards about him, and kept my nose clean of it. But I knew, and I think Padre from here knew as well how much of a force he was for BC. Good for us folks! Sorry, not a poke at anyone. Just a warm, fuzzy, polar-bear, poutine-lovin feelin he crushing QBs for US!!!!!
Nice to see this list and Wake getting some recognition. As per PFF, he was the number one 4-3 DE in the NFL last year The second best guy was rated at less that half of his grade. Wake was given an overall grade of +53.8. Jason Pierre-Paul from the Giants was rated as the second best with a grade of +23.7. That is eye-popping. Wake's grades: +1.5 in coverage +10.4 vs the run +37.7 as a pass rusher Wake rushed the QB 558 times last season, and recorded 17 sacks, 23 QB hits, and 46 hurries. No counting hurries and pressures, that still breaks down to a sack 15% of the time he rushes the passer. The guy is phenomenal. Hopefully, the refs will start calling more of the holds and tackles and maulings he draws from opposing olines.
Thigpen is also doing pretty much what he did in the CFL as well, explosive but wildly inconsistent. I also think slotting Dion Jordan as a RDE is a mistake, he is a pure Tiger, he moves well, forward and reverse, his first step is just amazing to watch.
Lol, Tannebum didnt understand specific schematic priciples relative to his aquired talent ..what a clown organization.. hey jet fan...one of our members here (Jetssuck) told me to give you a message, how's Cam Wakes *** taste.?? Cam wake needs to step onto the field this year like he's the baddest mother f'er in the league, already lathered up, like a crazed dog, set the tone for the young defenders that join you, you hear me!!!, act like you cannot be stopped, like you run sh&$ on this field, and I don't give a damn if you make a mistake, make it down hill 100 per. Yo jet fan, what color head bead your boy wearing today??.. .
Pouncey bonus link is a nice piece. I especially liked the Wilfork quotes on Pouncy. http://blogs.thescore.com/nfl/2012/12/29/the-tape-never-lies-mike-pouncey-should-be-in-the-pro-bowl/ and
Yep, one day, some stat monkey will figure out the 4th qtr is everything and holding a lead matters more then stats in the first three qtrs. Basically, how the league works now is anything less then a 4 pt lead is easily over come in a team's last possession, kick off returned to the 30 means the opponent only needs what 40 yds to kick a game tying or winning FG.
I couldn't recall any recent ones for good reason: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/431194-the-best-nfl-defensive-unit-nicknames/page/7 I never knew this about the No-Name Defense:
Actually that is a good description of our D, no names that few outside of Dolphins fans and PFF know anything at all about. Even as great as Kraken is, he's mostly unknown, even inside the NFL. Rated the 80 something best player in the league is ridiculous. Reshad Jones also turned into a heck of a good player. But outside of Miami..no one has heard of them.
D gotta flash a few 4th qtr stands or game winners this year to get on Sportscenter or NFLN. Been too few and far between. Here's hoping we finally return to relevancy this year!
We have the pieces in place, now Tannehill has to use them. Tough schedule this year, especially to begin the year as per usual. And of course our first two games are on the road and away from our heat advantage.
Yep. Double the chances in the red zone this year while keeping the same TD success rate and same # of interceptions (13?). Consistency driving down the field at the end of a game to get us in range for field goal winners (we convert this year). Good health and the team gelling quickly or a little luck early on, I'm optimistic we've seen the last of the losing seasons for a while. Not asking for miracles just in the wildcard race week 17 this year.
I suspect Dustin Keller will be huge for us this year, I'm thinking maybe 10 Td's/1k+ receiving yards
Jason Taylor ranked Cameron Wake as his #2 best pass rusher currently on ESPN today. Demarcus Ware was his #1.
I make it a point to remind everyone at work that he is the best 4-3 de in the NFL, especially bears and bills fans that I work with. Man if Vernon and Jordan can help wake we could be top sack team in the league.
definitely! Plus the additions of Dansby & Wheeler. That's a lot of pressure opportunity when you think about it: - NFL's #1 ranked pass rusher - the 2nd & 6th ranked pressure 4-3 LBs (Wheeler & Ellerbe) - the 2013 draft's top defender - Odrick & Starks, the 3rd & 5th ranked sack guys the past 2 years of all DTs, 34 DE, and 43 closed ends.
I figure anything above about 750 and 6 from my fellow Boilermaker is gravy. What did Fasano have last year 400 and 4?
