    I suspect you're getting a biased sample consisting of the folks who feel negatively enough to call in. The people who support Ireland probably don't feel the same urge to call in.

    Either way, the team is what it is, and Ireland is in charge. He's hired what looks to me to be a great head coach, and they've both drafted a QB who looks to be franchise caliber.

    The pieces are in place for this team to turn around. I think the key ingredient at this point is patience.

    IMO you might as well sit back this year and look for what's important at this stage of the team's rebuilding: the development of Tannehill, and the development of a winning team culture.

    Forget about the team's record, and forget about griping about Ireland. Neither will bring you the potential enjoyment that focusing on those other things will.

    If we could clone Pat Riley...I'd settle for Mitch Kupchack though. That guy could get us Brady and Fitzgerald for a box of tic tacs.

    I agree that the team is what it, and Ireland is certainly responsible for this. Whether good or bad, it is ultimately Ireland who will get the credit or the blame for how this season goes. Dolphin fans in Miami have been patient for over a decade and their patience is wearing very thin.

    I tend to listen to three different sports channels during the week. I would say that at least 90% of the calls to the stations which talk about the Dolphins, is negative in regards to Ireland. I think the one thing you can not overlook is the number of empty seats at Dolphin home games. I remember when over 75,000 fans showed up at the old dilapidated Orange Bowl to watch the Dolphins, every time they played at home.
    The loss of season ticket holders has caused Ross to go to the NFL and ask the league to allow the selling of 51,000 seats to constitute a sell out and the lifting of the blackout. While fans think he did this to help out those who want to watch the game on TV at home. He did it so he wouldn't have to continue to purchase thousands of dollars worth of tickets each week, so the blackout could be lifted.

    If your idea of being patient means waiting until this season is over to determine the fate of Ireland. I have no problem with that. If the Dolphins win and make the playoffs, I will certainly agree he should remain the teams GM. If on the other hand the Dolphins finish below 500 again and they continue to fall lower in the AFC standings, I will have no desire to see Ireland be given more time to turn this team around.

    I just wanted to add that I think I get more of a biased pro Ireland sample on this forum than I do anti Ireland bias when listening to sports talk radio, here in Miami. I just think that most anti Ireland fans who come on here are berated and eventually have no interest in remaining a member of this forum. So they choose not to post on here. I really don't care what anyone thinks about my anti Ireland views.So I am happy to rattle the cages of the pro Ireland contingent on this forum.

    Pretty much this. But that being said I would first check on Ted Thompson's interest before I even looked around, maybe working in the warm weather and with Philbin might intrigue him. But our luck he hates Philbin and is part Eskimo.

    I don't think Ireland is singlehandedly ruining the team. I think Ross is helping ruin the team, by keeping Ireland as the teams GM. So it isn't just a one man who is responsible for where this team is today.

    Your probably right. But I honestly think it is all Joe Robbie's fault for dying in the first place. The last time this team was really good was when Robbie was the owner and damn, he got old and died.

    There will be a lot of heat on him (more than there already is) if they don't get a WR who makes some plays and grabs a few TD's. Chad Pennington said trading Marshall was a mistake without having a backup plan, and when you have a troubled player like that you have to work through it when you have no other options. I think Pennington said it perfectly.

    Now I don't love Marshall and don't want him, but I thought when they traded him they would go after another WR, maybe not quite as good but someone who could get you 700-800 yards and some TDs...which we haven't done at all. Now James Jones might fit that, but what are the odds we get him? Guess we'll find out in the next few days.

    Okay I agree, and since I am certainly guilty of much of the anti Ireland comments, I 'll just go ahead and sign off for the rest of the night, so there will be one less anti Ireland person on this forum. All the pro Ireland fans can now rejoice and I wish you all a very good night and a great holiday weekend. That include all you pro Ireland supporters too.

    It's not one person, it's not you. It's a collective effort that, at times, has a strong argument whilst other times is just throwing stuff against the wall and hoping it sticks.

    This sounds like the position we are in as a Country.

    Ireland=Obama
    ? = Romney

    Just because one isn't doing as well as expected (because of lack of support) doesn't mean another candidate will do better in his place.
    It's hard to fix what happened before you were really in Office.

    Parcells=Bush :yes:

    I just might endorse this message depending on the circumstances.

    if/when Thompson leaves Green Bay it will be to retire, so you can forget about that pipe dream. Ball or Dorsey makes more sense seeing as how it will be a promotion for them.

    the vast majority of callers in this town haven't a clue, they just ride the coattails of the national media..so if that's what your basing your argument on on, don't expect people who do have a clue agree.

    Imo, the mans players from last and this need to show development and some game, he needs to win these two drafts because you can't completely Exclude him from the past 5... There does have to be some accountability...

    If last year and this years players don't measure up, Then let's really break his sh&$ down, .too early to tell though now, for me at least.

    I think a lot of your criticism comes from taking Parcells power completely out of your evaluation at the Gm position and holding him accountable for everything, and if that's the case, I don't agree.

    Which is all most of us ever said. But on these boards, with these psycho hate mongers, that makes us high priests in the Ireland religion somehow.

    To recap...spewing unfiltered hatred in every single post about some guy you don't know as if its a compulsion is perfectly rational but saying you need more non-compromised data before you pass judgement is reason for ridicule and to be treated as if you're a zealot in some cult.

    This **** is old and tiresome.

    Lol, I just am going to ignore the threads started by the worst posters on the board this year (congrats #1). It's the only way I am going to enjoy this year, watching what is hopefully our future franchise QB get his feet wet.

    Do you see what that was? It's called optimism in the face of adversity. It's what fans do who are not stuck I. The negative-spin cycle resulting in the same dumb-a$$ tired rants over and over. We definitely have some serious weaknesses on the team, but we also have some positives ( strong front 7 on defense, 3 studs on our Oline, stud young QB, good running backs).
