Our new hero:
Is there a Miami variation we could create so smokin jay's plays better here thannin chi town?
does he save the plane or what?
You know he doesn't save it... He hurts his thumb and bails. lol...
LMAO! Great stuff, especially the melty ice part. I would be shocked if he ever makes it back, you don't blow opportunities like that and get them again. All he had to do was throw the ball away lol, still glad we picked the better talent in Long.
I never wanted Matt Ryan. Jake Long was the best pick at the time out of that sorry crap draft.
Matt Ryan will never recover from that. "Matty Ice". lmfao
how was that ROI on Long?
after going 1-15 and having no face of the franchise, Ryan was the logical pick. We don';t know what would have happened if he came here. But having a franchise qb, would have attracted better free agents and coaches.
We went 11-5 in 2008 which was special, there's your ROI. Matt Ryan never would have won s*** with us with that pathetic team and offensive line, and knowing Dolfans, he would have eventually been run out of town. Sure Jake Long didn't have the career that we all hoped, mostly due to injuries, but as a talent he was head and shoulders above Matt Ryan, who was just pedestrian at B.C. Jake Long was a HoF level talent coming from Michigan, you don't pass on that just because another man plays the Qb position, unless that man is special which Matt Ryan is not, imo of course. Just like the over-rated RW, nice players, but not great talents. Wilson has the ring though because he had a great run game and all-time great defense, so in some peoples minds he is a super-star too lol.
And what did passing on a qb in 2008 do for us 9 years later? You can discount the value of a qb all you want. Teams win super bowls because of qb's. There might be an exception here and there

Perhaps it would have been nice to have a crystal ball at the time of the draft, which would have predicted Jake Longs injuries which didn't occur in college. Passing on great talents for average QB's is stupid, which is why players like Long, Mario Williams, Clowney, the list goes on are drafted, and deserve to be drafted 1st overall. There is more to football than the QB position, but most fans don't understand / want to get into all that. #QBWins lol. I've said it a million times and will keep saying it until they prove me wrong (but they are proving me right), Matt Ryan and Russel Wilson are over-rated QB's. Good players, but not elite.
We would have never won a Super Bowl with Matt Ryan. We would have been wasting our time all those years just like we were with Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill will never win a Super Bowl either, he was just never that good and never will be. They are both Pretenders not Contenders.
Well we see what passing on a qb has done since the fisaco in 2005. If we did the opposite, between Brees or Ryan, would we be better or worse off?

Aaron Rodgers was the REAL NFL MVP last season. That's because, just like Dan Marino, he is the Most Valuable Player to any team. The Packers would have gone 4-12 at best without Aaron Rodgers. Just like a lot of those old Dan Marino teams.
Let's just say I'm glad we waited on RT. I believe we have a better shot of winning a SB with RT than we ever would have had with Matt Ryan, which is all I care about. People forget, but before drafting Long, our offensive line was probably the worst in the NFL, so drafting an immobile Matt Ryan behind a terrible offensive line was probably not the best idea. Matt Ryan had his golden opportunity to win the ultimate prize last year, and I mean GOLDEN. We all saw what he did with that opportunity, which is why I find this cartoon absolutely f****** hysterical.
Interestingly, it was reported that Parcells' and Ireland had planned on taking Long #1, and Flacco at #2, setting up our LT and QB combo.
Baltimore screwed those plans by trading in the first round and taking Flacco before we picked again. We then took Merling in the 2nd and QB, Henne in the 3rd.
As for "Smokin' Jay", he was regarded as one of the "can't miss" QBs since 2000 to come out. While easily the best QB of his class, he's never been as good as Matt Ryan either.
we will have to wait 7 seasons for RT to win a SB. The Matt Ryan Project would have still been worth it
28-3 advantage meltdown by a QB in the biggest game EVER???
I'll take alternate options at QB for $1000 Alex.
THE DAILY DOUBLE!!!!!!!
Quarterback, quarterback, quarterback...that's all I ever hear anyone ever complain about and it gets old and boring. In 2007, we were 1-15. Our team was a disaster!!! It wouldn't have mattered WHO we had as quarterback in 2008...if we didn't shore up our PATHETIC offensive line, any quarterback would have been running for his mother effin' life!
Besides does anyone TRULY that any QB we would have drafted would have prospered under the "expert tutelage" of Tony Sparano...Mr Field Goal Fist Pumper?
Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the world. IMO he is the Michael Jordan of football, because he elevates the players around him. I think the only reason he isn't revolutionizing the game is because nobody else can replicate what he is doing.
I believe if we had drafted a qb, that things would have fallen in place, post or pre Sporano. The franchise qb attracts talent, from gm's to coaches to FA's. Sporano was an OL coach so Parcells probably knew he was going the Jake Long route.
I dont know man. The elite teams have elite qb's. The formula and thought process we have had for years made us mediocre and barey made the playoffs a few times. Now that we know that, imagine if we had landed a qb instead? Is anyone suggesting that we would be the same franchise?

Melt down? Did you watch the game? Ryan outplayed Brady by a large margin.
Until it mattered MOST...
Ummm...dude, so you didn't watch it? And when is "matter most" time?
Matt Ryan looked lost with complete tunnel vision when the Lombardi Trophy was on the line, and blew a 28-3 lead. What game did YOU watch? Matt Ryan looked lost in the 4th quarter when it mattered most.
lol...The game matters the most from kickoff to the last second. He didn't look lost. He had a 145 passer rating for the love of God.
Ryan did not play bad when the lead was blown. It was more Brady playing great at the end, Atlanta's defense being tired, and Atlanta's coaches abandoning the run. The comeback started with 8:31 remaining in the 3rd quarter when NE got the ball at the 25 yard line with the score 28-3. Now compare..
During that comeback:
Ryan completed 6 of 9 pass attempts for 100 yards with no TD's or INT's and got sacked twice for a total of 23 yards. That comes out to a very respectable 103.9 passer rating.
Brady completed 25 of 33 for 282 yards with 2 TD's and no INT's, got sacked 3 times for a total of 15 yards. His passer rating was 121.0 during the comeback.
So Ryan didn't play bad and clearly those 33 pass attempts by Brady can't be blamed on Ryan. Also, note that Atlanta had only 5 rushing attempts for 9 total yards during that comeback. Abandoning the run like that is a serious error on the part of the coaches. All in all I wouldn't blame Ryan for the collapse. And overall he played great.
Round 2, pick 57.
Yes, I meant our 3rd pick. We had two second round picks. Merling and Henne.
It won't be long until the 'Is Cutler better than Tannehill' threads start if he continues to perform under pressure.
The fans here never would have given Matt Ryan the time he needed to be a franchise QB.
That is irrefutable fact.
...Matt Ryan's team also went 11-5 in 2008.
