http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3358557 Serious enough to swat away an offer from the Washington Redskins that could have netted the Bengals two first round draft picks, team and league sources said. The Redskins offered this year's first round pick, No. 21 overall, and a conditional third rounder in 2009 that could escalate to a first rounder if Johnson and the Redskins hit certain performance levels, the sources said. i put this in the wrong spot mods can move
I wouldn't say that the offer the Skins made is as serious as it could possibly get, but it was a very good offer. If two first rounders (Campbell is good enough to hold up his end of the bargain) isn't enough for 85, nothing is.
Cincy = F'ing Crazy 2 First round picks!!! How in the hell do you turn that down? If this is true they're will def regret it...
No wonder the franchise has been a disaster for the last 20 years... I understand not wanting to set a precedent, but that's a little ridiculous. If it had been even just a 2nd, I can see saying no. Two firsts?? And you rid yourself of a locker room problem? Cutting your nose off to spite your face.
My brother is a Skins fan and he just me laugh, he said this is why these two teams are the laughingstock of the league, one for offering that deal and the other for turning it down.
http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10793519 Bengals coach calls out Chad Johnson: 'So don't play' CINCINNATI -- Tired of Chad Johnson's posturing for a trade, Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says the disgruntled receiver should keep his word and sit out the season.
Wow, im a bit shocked Cincy turned that down... but think about why. If they traded CJ... who do they have at the WR position. Remember, Chris Henry is gone. So they are pretty much left with Houshmanzadeh and thats it. Its not that easy for cincy to say okay... see ya chad! They need him right now.

they can get sweed or another good young wr in the draft with their pick and get a need with the redskins 21st overall.......they are nuts
This is insane, I cant believe the Bengals have handled this as absolutely terribly as they have. What a complete mess right now. Frankly, I hope Chad sits out the year and shoves it up Marvin Lewis' ***.
He'd cost himself around 10-11 million so I don't think he'd be doing anything to anyone but himself.
You know, I agree to some extent buuuuut... this guy signed a contract he is bound by that, he can't just say yeah ok I'm done, I've had my fun here now send me somewhere else. Lewis has every right to so no to a trade, whether it's vindictive or not is another matter. It's a given though that these types of situations never bode well for the team. I'm just getting sick of hearing these players demand things. If he feels this way he shouldn't have signed such a long lucrative deal in the first place. Funny how he complains of his treatment in Cinci as a grounds to demand a trade but he still gets overpaid despite underperforming. I say kudos to Lewis for sticking to his guns. That being said he'll probably be traded on draft day, probably for a lesser wr and an 08 pick.
Contract? Please. Thats a load of rubbish. How many players get axed by teams before their contract is up? Plenty. Contracts mean little to the teams, why should it to the players? Its a payday. Johnson simply got stonewalled and cried a little. When nobody offered a should it pissed him off somewhat. Hes a touchy player, but hes a proven playmaker and shouldnt have been brushed off the way he was to start with. Now its just getting out of hand. I think Lewis is going about this totally the wrong way. I think he gets traded, the Bungles are just holding out for a bigger deal.
