Mike Shanahan has agreed to become the head coach of the Washington Redskins, according to a report.
Shanahan and the Redskins have agreed in principle to a five-year contract worth approximately $7 million a year, the Denver Post reported on its Web site.

If Bruce Allen lets Mike Shanahan have a major say in player personnel, the Skins won't get any better. Shanahan strongly believes in his own guys and is a poor self evaluator IMO.

Yea, I thought the top coaches were only getting like $5 mill.

Thunderbolt89New MemberGood hire for the Redskins,Shanahan is a decent coach but that is a lot of money. The thing is not to let him be a general manager,he is a great coach but when he started to be a GM also in Denver is when things went sour.

Honestly, its nice rule when teams are actually interviewing, but Shanny has been the target for Chainsaw Dan since like the first game of the season lol. I couldnt care less in this case.

IIRC, they had previous talked to Sherm Lewis about the HC position (who was given play calling when they stripped Zorn of that responsibility). So, in effect they have already honored the Rooney Rule.
That's what I heard anyway...
