I do agree it is wierd, didnt they just bench him...now 40 million in guarnteed lucci?

Redskins agreed to terms with QB Donovan McNabb on a five-year, $78 million extension through 2015.

The Skins got serious, giving McNabb a whopping $40M guaranteed with the potential to earn $10M more in incentives. It'll be a featured story on Monday Night Football, with the news strategically breaking hours before game time. It's still a pretty big shocker, and not just because McNabb was yanked for a two-minute drill two weeks ago. The 34-year-old is on pace for his fewest TD passes since 1999, has more picks than scores, and so far has posted his lowest completion rate since 2006 while allegedly being slow to pick up Mike Shanahan's offense. It's not just odd timing. McNabb hasn't earned it.
