Yep. Weren't the Dolphins in talks with Long and Gholston? Oh, but wait, Miami took Long so now Gholston is garbage. Gotcha!

And yes, responding to a poster above, hurries do effect the Quarterback. Pressure is key. Pressure is pressure.

It also might have been becuase BP might have known the Jets were interested in Gholston so they were hoping that the Jets might try and trade up.

Is that the same former 19th overall 1st round bust Vernon Carey?

Sweet. I had no idea he was still playing. :wink2:

Seriously though, has he found a legitimate home at Right Tackle because I thought for a while there he was at Left or Right Guard.

And please enlighten me Melbourne why Miami was never seriously interested in Vernon. Please. Parcells obviously wanted to get rid of Taylor so they need someone to replace him at OLB in the 34 and DE in the 43 because Joey Porter seems to be a waste of $20 some million.

Do you think Jake Long was? I'm curious to know exactly why. I'm a Michigan fan and I wasn't too fond of Long before he was drafted by Miami. I don't think you have the next Joe Thomas at all.

    Well, according to the scouts.

I think the decision of taking Long might linger from Parcells passing up on Orlando Pace years ago when he was with the Jets and this time he wanted to take the "sure thing" tackle. We'll see though.

To throw in my two cents, I am happy with the selection of Jake Long. I think he will be a franchise player for this team for many years to come.

As for your question of the worth of the top overall pick, I don't believe there was a player who was the consensus number one. I think Dorsey is the best player in this draft as well as Jonathan Stewart. Dorsey I believe has the most value for the number one overall pick but not sure if he would be the top overall pick in a better draft.
