So if Chad Henne chose number 4, would they compare him to Favre? This is a dumb comparision IMO. LT played for a different team.

No really I watched him play at Ohio ST and he did quite fine. You think he is to muscle bound to play in the NFL?

That stiff dominated your $57.75 million Left Tackle. Be careful what you say, Gholston owned Long in college -- I should know, I'm a Wolverine fan. I have a good feeling about their matchup in Week 1.

Did you see how many times Henne was pressured by Gholston? He had to throw the ball away a bunch.

Lol ill take a incompletion over a sack anyday.....a sack is momentum, it could be a game changer......there is roughly 10-25 incompletions a game......no biggy....

a QB hurry is hardly a "dominate" attribute imo.....

It is not what number you wear, but how you perform on the field.

I think VG will be good and is an upgrade to our line, big time. I just hope he doesn't take too long to start producing (aka Mario Williams).

    One year is too long?!?!

Dude, we have not won a SB in 39 years..I think you can give a guy more then 1 year to develop.

Mario barely showed up in year one, I want Vernon to at least start getting to the QB in the first year.

Yes, 6th pick in the draft, DE, one year is too long.

Mario and Vernon are two different types of ends. We're the Jets BZ, this isn't going to come fast. I think we can wait to see how Gholston does through his rookie deal before we start calling him a boom or bust after one season. Hopefully he produces, but it takes some youngters more time than others.

I don't think that a year is too long bro. Considering all the adjustments these players have to make to this league, if you can get a player to accommodate himself to this year that quickly than you should be happy. As for Mario Williams, the reason he took a full year was because the mentioned above and they kept moving him around the line which stunted his development. Me personally, I don't mind the wait because you want the player to be comfortable in every facet of the game because of the investment in him. Just my take on it.

Well good luck with that Sick. I'm not bashing Long just because he was taken by Miami.. I havn't liked him as an NFL Left Tackle for a while. Sure he stepped it up in the Big Ten, minus against Vernon Gholston and yes QB pressures do count when evaluating a Left Tackle, especially when you're going to give him the richest Offensive Lineman contract of all time.

We'll see though, I could be dead wrong. Best of luck with him. With Henne though, you're screwed. :wink2:

I'm not going to be ridiculous and say he is a bust or a stiff without him even playing a preseason game, that's just for lack of a better word silly!

But I will say he is a risk. He could be an average to below average player, or he could be the steal of the draft if he gets his head screwed on straight!

Most people feel Gholston is a "workout freak" but little more than this. He often took off on plays at Ohio State and just wasn't a factor. I think the Jets pick was a reach.

    Intersting.

I think it's kind of ironic that Long played against Gholston in college every year, and now they'll see each other twice a year.

Wich one of you guys actually believes "hurries" are not important?? Odd comment, considering the Giants just won the SB by "pressuring" Brady....

I agree that Gholston will be boom or bust, although since he is wearing green I hope he sucks (despite being a Buckeye fan) and I hope Long and Henne are hall of famer's, crazy how the college and pro games differ.

---By the way I try every year to not like Vrabel but it doesnt work--- but man do I hate Bruschi (as a player).

I dont like Clements never really did even at OSU....You??

  38. No offense, but the Dolphins were talking to him about being the first pick. But i guess he was a reach by any team except the Dolphins.

  39. So says his crystal ball. Thats like me saying that Long will suck, nobody knows what the hell any of them are going to do.
