The old saw that wookies have been known to tear people's arms off when they lose doesn't scare Hobbes, since he: a. has no arms (just legs) and b. is a cartoon character.

...and c) is a 10 ft., 400+ lb. tiger by now, as he has certainly grown since those halcyon days of the 1980's and 1990's. Think Battlecat, but less green and with wittier quips as he mutilates you whilst wearing an eyepatch and sporting a newspaper pirate hat. *Not to mention Hobbes gets the women. Wookies only get..er...female(?) Wookies. On that alone, it's no contest.
I went with Chewbacca. Hobbes is great and all, but unfortunately I've had to look at too many awful Calvin peeing stickers in the last 10 years, and Hobbes is guilty by association.
