I don't think it'll be difficult to get him to sign a contract of that nature, since the contract will likely be based on what other running backs are getting around the league, and the rest of the league is well aware of these issues regarding running backs (i.e., plug and play, career trajectory, etc.).

Apparently my friend with no name thinks that this is not relevant in the decision.

I say it's too soon to think about that. Let's see how he holds up and/or how Thomas, Miller progress.

I favor a new contract for him but I'd wait several more weeks, as being a running back, he takes a lot of punishment. I'd give him the contract as much for his leadership and dedication as for his on-field prowess. I can understand those that suggest franchise tagging him from a pure business standpoint, but I would make an exception in this case. Players like Reggie Bush, both on and off the fiield don't come around very often. He should be rewarded. I doubt he would insist on the team breaking the bank to sign him.

I would love to see the Dolphins sign Bush for two major reasons.
The first reason is that I believe he has shown since his arrival in Miami last year that he is one of the top backs in the entire NFL. He is the one player on the Dolphins offense which other teams worry about on every offensive play he is in the game. Right now the Dolphins just don't have any other offensive skill players, who strike fear in opposing teams.
The second reason I want the Dolphin to sign Bush is because I have no desire to see him in the Jets backfield next season. Bush has stated on numerous occasions that he enjoyed playing for Tony Sparano and he credited Sparano with giving him the opportunity to prove that he was an every down back in the NFL. If the Dolphins don't sign Bush to a new contract. I can easily see Sparano convincing Ryan and the teams GM to go after Bush in free agency.
