The Seattle Post-Intelligencer cites a KJR-AM report that Shaun Alexander has been told the Seahawks will release him today. The team hasn't confirmed the rumor, but it's basically been a foregone conclusion since the team acquired Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett through free agency. The move was likely delayed until Alexander could pass a physical. Cutting him will save Seattle almost $5 million under the salary cap. Honestly, I think that he's tired of being hit. He's logged over 2100 carries in his career, which is a pretty high number. He hasn't been the same since the wrist injury. Wouldn't surprise me if he's tired of being hit, or scared of having another injury. He also signed a big, fat contract, a few years ago, so this may be playing into his performance as well.
