I don't know why but I keep getting the feeling that the Patriots will take a stab at Rainey in the 2nd round. He could be their 3rd down back, and could even play a slot position like Wes Welker. I just seem him being a player that they like and would be able to use to create mismatches.
Posey has very good route running skills and very good hands. With a good 40 time I could see him sneaking into the 1st round.
I'm biased, like I was with Mario Harvey last year. I'd really like to see Vinny Curry in a Dolphins uniform. He played standing up and hand in the ground, so I think he could play in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. Guy has unbelievable heart, emotion and makeup. He stayed his senior season because his dying mother's wish was for him to graduate, which he did. Only person in his family with a college degree. His mom passed away in season and he dealt with her gradual death all year and still put up a monster year. The week his mom died, he flew in on Saturday to play that day and put the defense on his back recording 3 sacks, 5 TFL, and causing 2 TO's. Guy was an inspiration and leader.
I know Weeden has had some problems with turnovers but his zip on the ball is why i have lobbied for him
Can't forget about his poor decision making i.e. tattoos for schwag. That will have to factor into his draft status as well.
Rainey at WR taking his old teammate to school was a little eye opening..... and then displaying a little ability to adjust to the pass and haul it in. Impressive.
Rainey is definitely a guy I want to see on this team. Versatility and the speed he adds to the offense and special teams would be awesome.
Hahaha I called that earlier!! I didn't even know they would work him out at WR, but I figured the Patriots would consider bringing him in for another wrinkle into their offense. I bet when all is said and done he is a 2nd or early 3rd round pick. You just can't teach that kind of speed and elusiveness.
I like Rainey a lot better then his counter part even though most seem to like Demos better. Raineys got great speed to, but his game just translates so much better IMO.
He reminded me a little of Jacoby Ford on the play. He absolutely blew by Jenkins and seemed to show some natural ability at WR.
Watching Weeden take snaps from under center. Love what I'm seeing from him there. That was one of the questions I had... his footwork getting back... looks like he's already been working on it. They are speculating him to be a 2nd round pick, possibly to the Redskins, as their staff is coaching him this week. I can see that. But I would be okay if we took him in the first round, if I'm being honest. But if Flynn is available, can't help but think he's the one they'll go with.
I'll continue banging the drum for Courtney Upshaw. I've been away for work the past two days in St. Louis, but all the reports I've read seem to indicate Upshaw's been really good in practice. I was surprised to see he checked in at nearly 6'2". I figured he'd be shorter that, not that it really matters because he's got outstanding hands and natural leverage. I'd love to see the Dolphins draft him.
I think one thing that really helped him out was the fact that he had a former NFL coach as his Offensive Coordinator at OSU. If I remember correctly him OC was either the Jacksonville Jaguars QB coach or OC. I think one of the stipulations of Weeden coming back to OSU last year was that he would help him advance his game as an NFL QB. It looks like it is paying dividends. I think he will follow a draft path similar to Andy Dalton last year, he will be talked about in the 2nd and then come draft time people start chatting him up saying how he might be a late first and then when it is all said and done he will still go in the early 2nd round.
Yeah, He's been a real thorn in Clemson's butt. I was hoping his SC counterpart Devin Taylor would come out this year.
That was one of my predictions, that Weeden's feet in dropbacks would look a lot more smooth and natural, rhythmic, than people imagine. The reason I keep calling him The Natural/Roy Hobbs. Everything he does looks like he came out of the womb doing it.
Honestly, this is a good thing for Jeff. I have watched him for four years and he is a much better track athlete than a football player. The difference between Rainey and Demps is that Rainey is fast and elusive while Demps is just fast. Neither were spectular running up the middle, but Demps was significantly worse. Really the only time Demps made big plays was when there was a foot race to the endzone, and he'd win that every time. Also he got hurt alot, usually had an ankle sprain or some leg issue that caused him to miss games every year.
From the practices I watched...Mike Martin at 6012 and 307 lbs is just a little bit undersized for what you want, but I don't care...I'm looking at him as a nose guard and a darn good one.
The most disapointing player for me is Mike Brewster holy **** is his stock plummenting or what? Also wouldn't be surprised to see Minnesota trade back into round 1 to draft Mike Adams. Cam Johnson is making the most of this opportunity.
Have to see what kind of 4-3 D or 3-4 one-gapper the Dolphins are running. That will determine a lot about where Wake lines up and where each player will fit, whether Soliai needs to return etc... Considering the success Houston had with an undersized front this year I don't think Randy Starks-Odrick is a bad combo to lineup with inside for next year.
I really think they let Solai walk. Really underperformed so switching to a 4-3 might not be so bad. Starks and Odrick in the middle would be mighty fine.
The would certainly get a ton of pressure on the Quarterback. Both are exceptional pass rushers. I just wonder how they would stack up against the run. We would have to have some pretty solid LBs like Houston to excel on defense with an undersized front.
Beautiful day here in Mobile ... cool and sunshine. Best practice weather of the week. If it weren't for school work, I'd be at the field
Per Evan silva, Weeden was more impressive in interviews than he was on the field. Russ Lande believes he will end up a first round pick
""Numerous NFL sources" told Sporting News that Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden was even more impressive in Senior Bowl team interviews than he was on the practice field in Mobile. Weeden reportedly displayed "maturity, football intelligence, and confidence" with which few college prospects enter the pros. Sporting News draft analyst Russ Lande now believes Weeden will be a first-round pick in April's draft. In practice, Lande says Weeden "made intermediate and deep throws look easy," while showing the best arm strength of any senior quarterback." http://www.rotoworld.com/
