Halfway through the season, it's the perfect time to look at season's end projections for our Fins and conjecture who will surpass expectations and who will lose pace. Ryan Tannehill - 356/562 3,814 28 TDs 12 INTs 90.9 (passing) & 62/490 7.9 0TDs (rushing) Lamar Miller - 212/1036 4.9 10 TDs (rushing) & 10/288 2 TDs (receiving) Charles Clay - 34/540 4 TDs Mike Wallace - 70/936 10 TDs Jarvis Landry - 60/602 4 TDs Brian Hartline - 50/530 2 TDs Offensive Line - 34 sacks allowed Pass Defense - 18 INTs Jelani Jenkins - 112 tackles 4 sacks 4 ff Olivier Vernon - 10 sacks 4 ff Cameron Wake - 14 sacks 6 ff 2 fr ------------------------------------------------------------ My opinion: The offense, and the team as a whole, is improving so all of these numbers could feasibly improve. I'd say Lamar, Wallace, Hartline, Oline, INTs, and Defensive players are probably all accurate projections. Perhaps it's crazy to expect Hartline to halve his yards from previous years, but the breadth of this cadre of weapons has affected his production more than anybody, especially since he's not running that signature sideline comeback route these days where he was practically undefendable. As Ryan continues to learn this system, he should spread the ball around even more. This defense has forced a lot of fumbles, and that's where I'd guess the numbers go down. Clay and Landry should improve their stats as both seem to be bigger parts of the game plan every week; I'd guess both break 700 yards. Ryan Tannehill seems to have turned the corner, so projecting 4,000 yards passing isn't that much of a stretch (28/12 sounds right). He wasn't running a lot in the beginning of the year, so he could easily have 500 or 600 yards rushing by season's end - and you know he's gonna add a few TDs to that total. At the end of the year, if he has 4000 & 500, he's got to be considered a top 5 or 10 QB.
Great post. And I agree mostly. I think that Clay should end up better than the projection, since he was hurt and not playing up to his ability the first quarter of the season. I think that Wallace's yardage and average per rec should probably go up too.
For sure, had he remained healthy, or running game could have been epic. Two legit 1000 yard backs on the same team is rare. Still, we should be good if Miller is healthy.
He always gets limited reps in the game..Tanny will pick up the slack in the read option I think and am hoping. Maybe we can do well enough without Lamar having to play so he is healthier against the Bills. I am also hoping Williams can do well enough for us on Sunday.
Ahhem...wrong thread...... This is a good topic for discussion. Sure Clay is getting back into the offense, easy pick there. Really though, it's Tannehill and Landry. I guarantee this, barring injuries.
I don't have enough pro reps to get a good read yet, I did however come to realize thru study that he is a very good natural catcher of the football, and can make moves simultaneously, he's aslo a confident kid, I can tell he feels like he belongs..
I definitely think Jarvis Landry will finish with more than 600 yards the way he's being utilized now.
Tannehill - I feel like he is getting comfortable in the offense. I think it's possible he throws more than 12 INT but finishes with over 30 TD. Clay - Seems to be getting more involved in the offense now that the injury is behind him a bit. Should come on strong in the second half. Landry - Has just been getting better each week and is starting to see more targets in the offense. Increased workload will help him beat those totals. Especially if Hartline doesn't pick it up.
I think most of the offense folks listed there will beat projections...the offense is getting smoother and RT seems to be comfortable finally...there were some rough games that contributed to the totals that determine the projections.
