He's slowly working his way back into the coaching staff's good graces by making sure whoever he's defending feels his presence.

Smith contributed a season-high five tackles (four solo) against New England, and a couple of them were physical stops, which haven't exactly been this finesse player's forte.

"With Sean, he's a cover guy. He's long, but tackling, he hadn't had many of those opportunities," Sparano said. " he had guys on the ground and made some big plays. I thought he was productive and is getting better at it.

"I don't expect Sean to accept wholeheartedly. But I do expect him to execute."
