Uh, Sean? Football is a physical, violent game. Players “work” for four months—or five months plus a week if you make the Super Bowl—and get compensated to the tune of hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars per person. Players elect to play football professionally, they’re skilled and lucky enough to be hired by one of the 32 teams in any given season during their career. Putting health at risk is a voluntary decision one makes by electing to play football. In any physically intensive job, risking your health is part of the requirement. There’s really nothing to complain about here, especially with such generous compensation compared to even 20 years ago.
