Seahawks Hire Tony Dungy To Run Defense By Mike Sando The Seattle Seahawks, who struggled defensively in 2009, have hired former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy to run the defense. Dungy has a long time experience in zone based schemes and has worked as a defensive back coach as well as defensive coordinator for the Vikings. Dungy is known for his zone based defensive schemes, specifically the Tampa 2, but it's said that he's unlikely to employ a lot of it. Dungy will have a big hand in teaching Seahawks cornerbacks and linebackers discipline in their zone assignments.
