Statement form GM JMHPhin The SD Chargers are finished prior to the draft, we feel like we took a strong building team and put us in a position to compete this season. We said goodbye to some valuable players and family members, but in this business there needs to be some risk taken to gain the big reward. We feel good about the additions we made, we trimmed our payroll at the same time. We were right at the cap and at this time before the draft, we now have 14+ million in room. On offense we added Marshawn Lynch who outside AP we feel is the best back in football and was the back we felt fit what we wanted to do. We also added WRs Roddy White and Miles Austin and TE Scott Chandler (who we feel in this offense will explode) as well as a young wr in Drew Davis that we feel can play. We feel like the additions of Zane Beadles and Breno Giacomini solidifies the line and mitigates the loss of DJ who while a valuable pice allowed us to strengthen the team. On Defense we added Lamarr Woodley to strengthen our pass rush. We move Melvin Ingram inside to team with newly acquired AJ Hawk, we believe this allows us to bring the blitz from any angle while still being strong up the middle. We brought in Reshad Jones at SS and Steve Gregory to back him up, we feel reshad is coming into his own and with provide solid play. We feel Jahleel Addae is ready for an increased role and will be a solid performer. We feel adding Jimmy Smith allows us to move Derek Cox to #2 or nickel to compete with Shareece Wright and gives us the the overal backfield to allow us to be aggressive up front. Overall we feel good about where we are at and look forward to the draft.
