There are theories out there that a massive object at one time collided with Earth as well. These theories show that the Moon itself is a byproduct of this collision as a massive chunk of the planet was knocked off. Pretty interesting stuff.

What I want to know is how NASA and the government are formulating plans to combat this kind of event, which is fairly plausible.

The moon was supposedly separated from the earth after a major collision with a huge asteroid its theorized .

The moon was much closer and seen much larger than we see it now millions of years later.

The moon is steadily moving apart from the earth as millions of years go by.
