Wow... talk about embarassing... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080417/od_nm/japan_score_dc;_ylt=Ap2UlbXouFhFAMEgTY7fPzus0NUE
"At that pace the pitcher would have thrown around 500 pitches in four innings," Kawamoto's coach was quoted as saying. "There was a danger he could get injured." Yea it isn't like 250 is ridiculous or anything
.....Hopefully this guy took his starters out after their 8th AB of the inning and the reserves just hit well. If not then this coach needs karate chopped in the throat!
thats what i thought when i read it... i was thinking... okay, so 500 is bad? but 250 is ok?? MLB managers/pitchers are worried about throwing 100 in a game!
I should find this funny, but I dont. As a pitcher who had his arm ragged in little league and subsequently had serious shoulder/elbow problems in college, this is borderline child abuse. Its appaling to let a kid of any age throw 250 pitches. That coach should be fired and never allowed to coach baseball at ANY level. The damn Japanese have a 'Hitler Youth' approach to the game and it makes me sick. I usually dont get this fired up on this board but that really pisses me off.
I like how the coach threw the towel in after the team scored 66 runs. I mean if it was me there's no way I let the game continue after run #60. In all seriousiness I would have had the game called after 20 runs. Enough is enough and that's when kids get hurt on either team.
