I don't think it's a good idea to take a corner when he's not the best player on the board, and in this draft that will be highly likely..

Agree with his thoughts about Clemons, maybe this year I won't be one of the very few who see him as a good football payer capable of more, against the masses saying he's gonna get cut.

I can see a trade down scenario..Eifert..Austin..Trufant....we have some options here to pick up some good value, and walk out with an important relevant player.

Ireland let what was a weakness for this team get even weaker. In a passing league. Are people really excited that Ireland is going to have to use at least 2 more draft picks at the position when not even a year ago this team had 2 very good young corners on the roster? And is anyone really buying this crap that certain corners can't play in Philbin's system? Since when is Philbin even a defensive minded coach? Good corners play in any system. Here we go again. I wonder what the excuse will be this year when this secondary gets torched week in, week out. Puts a young QB in a horrible situation too when he has to play catchup every week because the opposing QB is putting up Madden stats against a terrible secondary.

Neither Sean Smith nor Vontae Davis have had a complete season between them that can be characterized as "very good". Also, you should probably be able to figure out whose defensive system the Dolphins would be concerned about matching players to.

Cornerback is a MAJOR need. Depending on rookies is not a safe bet in my opinion. I'd release Patterson and Marshall giving the injury/attitude concerns and save $8.3 million against the cap and use that money to sign Brent Grimes and Antoine Winfield to hold us over...

Sure I can. But why don't you say that to all the people who keep saying Vontae and SS24 didn't fit Philbin's system? Is it because they agree with you and you don't want to insult them with snarky comments?

It might just be as simple that neither SS nor VD had the work ethic and/ or attitude they wanted on a young team they are TRYING to build. Character goes a long way when you are trying to build something from the ground up, IMO, if you are trying to change a culture that has NOT been working. I didn't like either one of them.

Patterson is a slot corner. Signing Winfield or Grimes doesn't fill that hole.

Winfield is a fine slot corner. He's just fine playing anywhere. The Vikings played him a lot in the slot and he was easily a top 10 slot corner.

Winfield would. He played outside in base and slot in nickel.

Who is in the front-7, and what scheme is being used.

The only way Grimes or Winfield would be signed is if they agreed to a 1 year deal as bridges to the young corners the team will likely draft in the 2nd-4th rounds.

I'd only offer one year deals for Grimes and Winfield then take a look at a guy like Jamar Taylor in round two. As mentioned above Winfield is more than capable of playing the slot.... Any way you cut it Dimitri Patterson is not worth his cap hit...

Yes, very much so if they posted something like that. The idea that scheme fits don't really matter for good players is pretty bad.

The forward pass is eliminated. Or we magically morph into the Giants 2007 front 7.

You beat Brady by pressuring him, which is why we brought in Ellerbe and Wheeler. Two of the best blitzing linebackers in the league.

But your point still stands true. We need corners. I expect to draft at least 2 of them.
