http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Wilson-Browns-expected-to-add-Haskell-to-staff.html Meanwhile, the newspaper reports that the trade of salary-cap specialists between the Browns and the Miami Dolphins will become official this week. Dawn Aponte heads to the Dolphins and Matt Thomas goes to the Browns.
Wow, Thomas is heading to Cleveland as well? Well, it's Ross' team now, he can staff whoever he wants. Not sure it's wise to have one person performing the roles that used to belong to two people, but hey.
From what I've read, she is as good as it gets. Some may wonder why that is important in an uncapped year. IMO, it is much more important than years gone by. With the cap future being uncertain, I want the best analyzing it. We now have that. Well done by our FO.
We have to make sure we don't get in over our head if we go uncapped, because when we come out of it we will have capped years to deal with again. I have heard great things about Dawn.
Maybe its just me but Ive never heard of a trade of front office types. Is this a trade or did one sign with one organization and the other was offered the same position from the team that lost their capologist
I have read where she is the best. In these uncertain times, not even knowing if there will be a season in 2011, you want the best making the cap calls. I am very happy to have her.
Matt Thomas would have been just fine to manage information for the uncapped year and future capped years, should the cap return. Aponte's hiring is significant because she's regarded as one of the few people who truly understands the CBA and its implications, and as such, she's a great advisor to Ross on NFLPA negotiations and any future votes on ratifying a new CBA. I just think it's odd she would be hired to do the duties of both Matt Thomas and Bryan Weidmeier.
