I guess its safe to say that Bell is injury prone. As soon as I read the first 2 words in the thread title, I immediately started to panic.
There's nothing I want more than the Phins to break loose and win 12 games to shut everybody up. I am sick of the negativity (though it is deserved).
All I need is to win 5-6 games and see the progress we need toward being competitive in 2009. Just seeing the pieces fall into place this season will satisfy my need, Parcells, Ireland and Sparano have a plan, and it will take 2-3 years. All I need to see is the basics fall into place in year one so I know that the plan is working.
I have a buddy that is a huge Raider fan that won't shut up about how horrible the Phins are. That's pretty sad when a Raider fan tells you how bad your team sucks. I have a strange feeling somebody is gonna bury his *** in a cornfield. I wouldn't know who, but I know it's gonna happen.
I usually like Skolnick's stuff but he had one line in there that seemed like a bit of stretch, referring to Bell as a ball hawk. He has exactly one career interception. That said, he does have a penchant for forcing fumbles and generating sacks on safety blitzes, so he should be a nice upgrade if he can make it all the way back from this injury.
Key to our Defense I have posted this in other threads, in the last few years, Bell has been a major key to having an effective defense and a winning team. When he took over as a starter for the final 9 games of 2006, the dolphins went 5-4 vs 1-6 when he didn't start. In the first game last year (in which he was injured near the half), the dolphins had a dominating defense during the first half and nearly had the Redskins shut out. I hope he can leave the injury bug behind and make this a 16 game season.
