I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Ryan's name after he had the third best forty 40 time with a 4.3!!!! Where the **** did that come from lol, be honest did anyone else suspect that. My head is still spinning, he didn't look that fast to me but damn. Think he might davon bess replacement, since he's in the final and is not that explosive in the first place, maybe draft him in the late third or maybe if he falls in te draft like miller did snap him in the forth please. And to go along with a 37 inch vert.

I'd rather draft Swope than pay Hartline 5 million a year to do a job Swope could probably do as good or better.

We are mentioning it, we just aren't making new threads for every single 40 yard run. In the Combine thread we are breaking down each of them

so what prevents him from being a #1? and that is a serious question, not being a smart a$$ (for a change)

Some people have been talking about this kid for ages. Couple of years. Falls flatly into the category of solid college player who everyone tries to talk down because he's either too small, too white, too skinny, hands are too small, etc. Then he goes to the pros and rips it like he did in college and everyone says 'look at this kid'.

Basically, he's Jordy Nelson clone that is 3 inches shorter and about 12 lbs lighter but plays with the same physical style and reckless abandon. Plus, he's faster than Jordy. And he plays to that speed, IMO. He's very sharp in and out of his breaks, great route runner, can win match ups with pretty much anyone they put on him. He goes up and gets the ball too.

People better forget about getting him in the 3rd round. He's a legitimate candidate for Miami's 42nd pick, IMO. Particularly when he goes 36+ inches on his vertical.

I agree, Keith. Don't see him getting out of the second round. Some people talked about him being a late rounder about two months ago. Didn't understand it then, don't understand it now. He'll get knocked for having small hands. Never hurt him at TAMU.

I really have not watched him a lot (just watched his youtube highlight video) so I really am not going to proclaim to be a Swope expert. Just looking at the video it looks to me like he runs sloppy routes (everything seemed to be arched instead of sharp cuts) but damn the guy gets open. He does a great job of getting yards after contact and if he breaks into the open… forget it he is gone. Definitely someone I would consider 3b if I was the Fins

4.34 with a 1.47 ten yard split, he might sneak into the 2nd now.

Probably going to end up a Dolphin. Was that way before the combine. Tannehill really likes him. I think Miami will grab him with a 3.

I know you are being sarcastic… but that comment made me wonder how he compared to the rest of this WR class. Swope's vertical was 37 inches which tied him for 4th behind Marcus Davis, Justin Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers at 39.5 and Mark Harrison 38.5. C Patterson, M Wheaton and Swope each had 37 inch verticals

he absolutely does not play to 4.34, no way, no how. He plays about as fast as Jordy Nelson which is good speed but not fast. You don't see Nelson outrunning guys per se but you don't see him getting caught from behind either.

    Ok back to the tape-

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agsMmAL_nn8

:40 two views of him juking defenders out of their socks

1:15 defender has no hope of catching him as he pauses for the catch then glides into the endzone.

1:40- nice catch over the moddle, pulls away from DBs who have a built up head of steam, he's starting his momentum again, DBs have no chance.

2:05 dead sprint flying down the sideline

2:55 DBs once again have a running start, Swope pauses to catch the ball and he makes it look easy gliding into the end zone, DBs again have no chance.

He's tough, he has good hands, he's a solid over the middle and face it- he's fast. Dude just ran a 4.30 at the combine, he deserves a little credit imo.

responses in blue. I've given him plenty of credit, possibly well before you noticed him (see the posts below). I simply refuse to make more out of his 4.34 than it is b/c he is NOT a 4.3 player, not remotely close.

These are from March of last year:

At 1:40 he was getting mauled, momentum stopped, and he still dusted those guys. Let's try it this way if you don't like the speed of the defenders in the clips- show me where he's caught from behind. Swope is kind of sneaky fast, that's why so many are surprised today- but face it, he just ran a 4.3. He's fast.

It's hard for me to imagine him being any more than "solid" at the next level though.

If you're a team like the Falcons or Lions and you have guys that teams are already scared of, and what you need is solid and dependable contributors...you'll like him. If you're a team like the Miami Dolphins...

...well, you'll probably still like him because the Miami Dolphins love to shoot themselves in the foot like that.

Jordy Nelson ran a 4.5 and you don't see him getting caught from behind either.

You also saw the simulcam showing "4.34" Tavon Austin running stride for stride with a legitimate 4.27 Goodwin. If Swope is a legitimate 4.34 guy then I'm a tranny prostitute b/c there is absolutely no way he's faster than Markus Wheaton who timed at "4.45".

he's probably an upgrade over Bess and perhaps slightly better than Hartline, but he's certainly not a guy I'd look at and say, "Let's pass on everyone else and take Swope in the late 2nd or 3a" thinking he's the answer.

Over the past three seasons Swoop avg'd 77 catches, just short of 1000 yards and 7 TD's per season. The guy has produces consistently at the college level and appears to have to physical ability to take it to the next level.
