Russ Lande's fifth version of his top 200 prospects. The guy definitely goes out on a limb with some of his rankings and has some definite shocks in there particularly his top overall prospect. I don't know if it's for shock value or he really believes Nassib is that good but I just don't see it. It makes for an interesting read and needs to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. Now that the January All Star Game circuit is in the rear view mirror, we have been able to adjust our Top 200 to reflect what we saw during this games. It is vital to not change player's grades drastically due to their performance in these games, but these games are a great tool for breaking ties and evaluating small school prospects against better competition. Additionally, now that the deadline has passed for underclassmen to enter the 2013 NFL Draft we have removed those players we had on the list that choose not to come out early and have included many of those that did make the jump on this list. There are some lesser known underclassmen that will be added to this list as we have had the chance to thoroughly evaluate them. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/NFPS-Top-200-Draft-Prospects-Version-50.html
Woods as a first rounder.. Ertz before Eifert.. Nassib as the #1 pick. Looks like Kenny Vaccaro is just risin up all over the place...
Wow. I love stuff like this, as it demonstrates just how different everyone can view a prospect. When I watch them side by side, I think Austin is a flash in the pan while Bailey is a surefire 10 year NFL vet. He clearly feels the opposite. Same with his view on guys that I hate and he loves. Interesting to get another point of view, even if it only exists to make you explain why you feel the way you do and express your reasoning.
Lande was a former scout, so he might see things a bit different than most. Keep in mind this isn't a mock draft, just how he has players graded out. I'd be interested in him doing a writeup of Nassib though explaining why he has him ranked so high, I'm just not seeing him as a 1st round talent.
Wow. Interesting to say the least. FYI this is not a mock draft. It's his draft board. That means he isn't projecting Nassib to go first, he's actually saying he's the best player in the draft. Which I think is nuts.
I haven't watched any of his film, but in some of his games he has that unique athletic ability to evade and the innate sense to keep his eyes downfield when he does..it's turning into a pretty big requisite for the position.
Russ has gone balls out for Nassib for a while and for me, given he was a former scout, he's heard something about him being taken that high.
Buffalo can probably wait until the 2nd round and get him. Nonetheless, I would be happy because that would mean another better guy comes closer.
He's done four of these now and what's interesting is the one's he had before the Senior Bowl, Nassib was only 99th and a couple of weeks before 102. I think Boomer maybe on to something. That's just a helluva jump in a couple of weeks. Guys like Okafor down around the bottom of the list. Markus Wheaton ranked very low. Just to name a few.
Nassib as the top draft prospect? Are my eyes playing tricks on me? The guy didn't stand out in the senior bowl.
Knowing Russ, I don't think that's the case. Russ is very prone to staking out really exotic positions on players. It's the way you get remembered, for good or bad, instead of having your work get all mushed up with the zillions of other draft heads out there. In fact I want to say barely a month ago he started tweeting about how he just got done with Mike Glennon's tape and he's "pretty sure" he's going #1 overall.
I watch Ertz and Eifert immediately after each other (by the way, god bless the "Player X vs" series) and I sincerely just don't understand the Eifert love. Ertz all day errry day. But as a pure receiver? I think that kid from Florida is the best bet. Jordan Reed. I love watching him just snag the ball out of the air. Whenever he got the chance. Holy lord Florida (Driskell) how did you look so good against FSU but complete **** every other week? But, full disclosure - I have no idea how to determine a good blocking TE. I only mention this because he has Ertz high, and I understand that, but Eifert that high? I just wouldn't feel good taking him before the 3rd round. Just a crazy feeling I guess.
How do you determine a good blocking TE? Levine Toilolo and Michael Williams. Just see how much they look like them.
Shocked to see Quinton Patton THAT high. Disagree on Robert Woods being that high too. I'm actually agreeing with Lemonier being better than the 3rd rounder some say he is. He missed the boat on Stedman Bailey. Ditto Tank Carradine. Damontre Moore in the 2nd round. That'd be a big fall from expectations. Check out the PRINCETON DE, Mike Catapano grading out as a late second rounder! Wow.
So...both of the guys who were once actually employed by NFL teams as college scouts like Ertz better than Eifert, since Daniel Jeremiah also does.
I don't know. He's not necessarily saying Nassib is going to be drafted that high, but rather he ranks him the best player in the draft.
I do agree with you, however he is saying that the best player in the draft is a quarterback. That is practically saying that he should be the #1 pick.
I'm not saying he doesn't also think that he'll go first. If he's firm in that he feels Nassib is the best player in the draft and plays the most important position in the game as well as a huge need for KC, I would think he would project them to take him there. If he's just rating him #1 bc he's hearing buzz that he could go high even though he doesn't rate him there I'd lose a little respect for the guy.
