All I'm saying is, with the other new stadiums that exist, Dallas..Atlanta..San Jose...Phoenix..warm weather spots for January games seemingly will have an advantage because of their venues, Dallas getting the first tells my common sense that the decision was based on the venue.
The criteria for these events is pretty clear. There is no advantage Dallas has over Miami other than stadium.
I believe Mr. Ross's intentions are generally good - he wants to make the stadium more attractive and is willing to out up some money. But, the fact of the matter is that citing to 'losses' for the Franchise is disingenious. The Franchise will be worth significantly more than his purchase price if/when he sells. He will recuperiate tens of millions of dollars, or more if the renovations are approved. Further, I do not believe there is any profit sharing mechanism that the city/county will receive from Super Bowls, special events or when/if there is a sale of the franchise. This also increases profits for Mr. Ross. Further, he cites to Joe Robbie, and he is right that we only were 'awarded' more superbowls when JRS was built, but it feels hollow to me. Mr. Robbie built his stadium with his own money. If Mr. Ross wants to compare himself to Joe Robbie, he should better abide by his precedent. Finally, it upsets me that only Miami-Dade County would contribute. Although the stadium is in Miami-Dade, it borders Broward, and if anything, Broward should shoulder some public cost. No matter how different the actions of the franchises, it is near-sighted to think the Marlins fiasco doesn't affect peoples' perceptions. Miami-Dade County is now responsible for the Marlins mess. I admit I was pro-stadium public finance, especially leading up to the Marlins vote. But bridges have been burned and it must be accounted for. Mr. Ross will make alot of money from this franchise. Enough to cover the renovations at least. I appreciate his treatment of the situation, but I do not support the public finance. Miami will remain a world class tourist destination even without additional super bowls.
Geez man...lol.. Looks at the fu&$ing thing as an investment moving forward, can we do that for christs sakes, for get the past, forget the marlins, forget what you morally believe, it's a damn invest oppurtunity, with 0 risk, and a gurantee that you freakin team will stay in this town.. There are some bad business sense on this topic.
