I could see this being like step one with the final step being Steve Ross selling the Dolphins and moving out west. But this is not about moving the Dolphins out west.
It would be hilarious that much I have to admit. Then Jacksonville would move south to Miami to replace the Dolphins, Sacramento style.
Part of a lease is financials. A landlord can ask you for all sorts of financial information to ensure that you can pay. Now I would presume that all NFL owners would be able to pay, due dilligence is still required. And it's for that reason that Ross will never be allowed to own any part of a potential stadium while still owning the Dolphins.
Well he apparently never got the memo, because he's bidding on it? Stephen Ross will get all the financials of any LA owner either way, because the owners have to approve the new owner. The same way Stephen Ross had to share his financials with the other owners before they approved him buying the team. These guys are conspirators, not competitors.
I know there has been some buzz in the past year about Ross talking to some potential buyers for the Dolphins. I know Jordan Zimmerman has been very interested in buying the Dolphins.
First off, he's a long way from actually winning the bid. And if he does, he will have a choice to make; divest from the Dolphins and own the LA stadium or sell the stadium portion of AEG. Cannot have both. If you don't see the conflict of interest then I don't know what to tell you. The NFL wouldn't even allow Stan Kroenke to retain control of the nuggets and Avs when he bought the Rams.
If this were true, he never would have been able to look at the financials of AEG before making a bid.
lets be real here, all this is a ploy to scare the locals into accepting his proposal, he doesnt need that stadium unless he plans on moving the team and since he has already stated he has no intentions of moving the team, its exactly that, a fear tactic. He is cheap, he is not going to pay for the renovations himself, so this was the next step in gettin his propopal passed. This is all business for him, he has no passion for the dolphins and its all about making the team worth more so when the time comes to cash out, he will be cashing out more than he payed for because of the renovations.
Why wouldn't he? There is no stadium yet and one may never be built. There has been no approval and there is a competing site in LA that most California politicians prefer. The stadium is only a small part of AEG's overall business, and they really only got into the stadium/arena business to secure the surrounding land for other real estate opportunities. Staples Center was merely a pretext to get LA Live built, which is the real money maker. Same thing in Sacramento. You think AEG cares about the Sacramento Kings? (although it looks like they are too late in that regard) They care about the surrounding development, that only gets approved with a sports venue.
Jordan Zimmerman's Speech to a Football Team Lol. at him being annoyed we let Welker go! He clearly wants players with HEART, according to him. By the way, this was his pre-game speech before South Fla played Miami. This was South Florida's WORST loss of the season. 9-40. He sure ain't a coach. lol. But he is a good businessman: http://www.theadvertisingshow.com/en/art/1067/ http://www.theadvertisingshow.com/en/art/1067/ http://www.forbes.com/profile/jordan-zimmerman/ He calls himself a jersey boy at heart and a Giants fan. At least he's not a Jets fan. When I watch this dude I think "This dude was born to be an infomercial king." I don't know if I'd want Ross selling the teram to him. He seems like a lower-class Jerry Jones. lol.
He'd need partners. He's not rich enough for the NFL. They don't allow just anybody in, which is partly why they've had great stability the last 15 or so years.
Oh please let this be true and Mr. Ross get this team out of crap saken S. Florida. S. Florida no longer deserves a football team. Just read what the majority of fans say everyday Mr. Ross. Call the moving vans and get the team out, now. Give the stadiium to some S. Florida Charity. It would be ripped apart in less then 3 months and the locals will sell anything they can rip out to the closest salvage yard. Sad thing? S. Florida would still ***** and proclaim " Dat plase gots cheap stuff in et " LMAO its all true, no one can deny any of it.
You missed the second part of the statement. Where he plans to sell the Dolphins and grab another team
Even if it is a bluff it's not a strong one. The only person not calling the bluff is Paul13. On another note I think the Cardinals should move to LA.
Makes me wonder if somehow this franchise moved to L.A. then 2 years later Miami gets the Dolphins back expansion style. Where would most no Floridians legence lye? Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
forget it, if they leave they will lose the rest of the fan base, whats left over that is. I would not want them back, i'd prefer the jags move on down.
It feels like Florida is a bad place for a team that isnt a winner. LA Dolphins would be too weird for me, but cant blame anyone for being tired of potential blackouts every week. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
Hatred ? No. Disgust is more like it. I watched S. Florida go from a beautiful place and turn into a toilet bowl in the last 40 years. First time I was down there was in 1970 and loved it for many years. If you did not know it then you should have it. Completely different. As far as pulling the racism card ? Where do you get that from ? Interview half the people from S. Florida, White, Black, Hispanic or origins of who knows where and thats the way half of them talk. Nothing to do with Racism but all to do with reality. Like I said, S. Florida when Shula was there is a thing of the past, gone forever. Now its a toilet bowl and the best thing for this team and fans of football in general is to get the Dolphins out of S. Florida, now. Watch, they will put a soccer team in there and the place will be packed, win or lose.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...g-bid-doesnt-reflect-intent-to-move-dolphins/ something odd indeed. It's all just a strange coincidence that one week after unveiling the proposed stadium upgrades plan, Ross' group is involved in making a bid to buy the company that is intent on building a stadium in the 2nd largest market in the country. Some won't see it as a possibility until the moving vans are on their way out of South Florida.
That quote means nothing. Obviously, Ross is going to say he has no interest in moving the team. What else can he say?
Dude you have no freaking idea as to what you're talking about. Not a clue. California is the one with it's own language.
A lot of people are putting two and two together and coming up with five. Its true that the real estate deal that is being bidded on includes stadium rights for a future NFL team that is established in LA and its true that the Dolphins have one of the lowest attendances in the NFL http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/sort/homePct but if the deal goes through for Ross he could easily spin off those rights to someone else . The Dolphins are not likely to move to LA but they could become chips in a high stakes business deal where the threat of moving to LA could be employed to get the city to help finance the new stadium project .If Ross does not get that support he can sell the team and the rights to have a stadium in LA as a package deal. That would be the threat anyway. Win Win for him.He may even make a profit off the the one Billion he invested to buy this team.
Because he doesn't! He currently owns a stadium. Why would he move to LA? So he can make trillions off the land where his current team plays? I'm sure he is just dying to toss that quarter of a billion dollars he spent on Dolphins stadium into the garbage so he can go to, TWICE failed, LA....
I am quite relaxed. Wouldn't bother me one iota if he moved the team to LA, just as long as the LA was the City of Angels and not Lower Alabama.
of course we didnt land on the moon because most of us were little or not even born yet but It should be noted that the dolphins have a serius attendance problem and Ross is squirally as a chimp monk so its not out of the rim of a posibility that he does move and dont forget the nfl is wanting to move two nfl teams out of florida and may want to move somebody to London or Berlin .
Where is being prohibited to own this stadium written?? I would like to see it. Being a investor in the purchase of a stadium through an investment group does not mean Mr Ross is going to have any kind of advantage over anyone. Anyway, no NFL team plays there now anyway so I am pretty confident he can own the thing. It's a real estate deal, nothing more.
