http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hins-ricky-williams-hires-drew-rosenhaus.html Why I thought he was retiring after this year?? Ricky is always very comfortable doing his own contracts, he last contract was passed to him by the Tuna via a napkin during stretching drills one practice........I don't get this..
That does seem like an odd move... Maybe he's changed his mind? So long as that motor is still running I'd be interested in keeping him year to year
he'll probably try to renegotiate his contract for this year and get 1 more year added on ... not a shock, really ... especially if you look at his production the last 2 years - and the fact he became the lead back after RB went down. he knows like everyone else, that there is a 'strong' possibility that RB will get injured again this year ... somehow, someway ....
This surprises me. Methinks Ricky is planning for life after football and is trying to get all the money he can. Can't really blame him.
He wants to play after 2010.....this brings up an interesting questions, he is going to want money, and based on his performances, deserves it...but is getting old... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/19/ricky-williams-plans-to-play-beyond-2010/ What do you guys think of LaGarrette Blount in the 3rd round....big RB with a Ricky build, ran good times....showed nice workouts...has a mean streak as we all know...
Wasn't Ricky the guy that Parcells personally walked down, and kind of man to man made him an offer, no agents involved, that was considered pretty gracious and that he took? Just trying to piece this all together in my head.
I really wish he would have hired an agent to do his first few contract. He got completely hosed on his first deal.
He did. He hired No Limit Sports to represent him. It was Master P's company and Master P negotiated the contract. He did get screwed since it was mostly performance based. But he nonetheless had an agent- just not a good one.
Yes thats what I was talking about, Parcells slipped him a piece of paper with a number on it, while he was stretching out during one practice, and he accepted right there, from what I heard...
I like Blount but he should be there in the mid-late 4th given his issues. I like his style of play though and the physicality he brings. Reminds me a lot of Marion Barber...not the one on Dallas, his dad who played for the Jets in the early 70's. Yep, it was a post it not on his locker. More on Ricky playing beyond this year from rotoworld: A league source has informed Profootballtalk.com that Ricky Williams intends to continue playing beyond 2010. Williams doesn't have a contract for 2011 and turns 33 in a couple of months, but he's still playing at a very high level. He's also in a whole lot of debt, and needs money. Williams, in a contract year, is due $4.35M in 2010. Source: Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
I'm all for it, though he might be closer to a fourth rounder. Imagine Blount running behind Incongnito.... the defense won't know what hit'em!!! Or maybe they will...
No surprise ,I think he getting under payed. There was an excuse before becuase he might go back to his old ways but i think we all got a pretty good view ricky is not going back to his old ways. the guys pruducing and is on the field , i say he deserve the money and drew will get him more
Quick question, it says ur age is 31, how do you remember the early 70's...?? You have hidden stash of early 70's HD quality Jets games that your holding out on us on you turncoat!!!
It's also an uncapped year and there might not be a next season so Drew might have stepped to him and said, I can get you some promotioms and in the meantime, I'll bug the front office to give you a little more....
