I think you have that whenever you have a new HC.

We brought in Wheeler and Guyton about the same time. Ireland chose to sign Guyton probably because he was cheaper. Wheeler is infinitely better though and starts for the Raiders. Could we have afforded Wheeler? Well, we had a lot of cap room tied up in backup OL who are no longer with the team.

I've expressed my opinion on FA WRs several times so won't repeat it again.

Could have gotten rid of Tony McDaniels who hasn't been missed in the first three weeks.

I keep forgetting Tony McDaniel is still on this roster costing us like $3 million or something along those lines. What a waste.

And yes, Wheeler would have been a good signing. I believe I gave him the stamp of approval when we brought him in. But then they signed Gary Guyton and it was like, way to come close to making a good signing only to come away with a bad one. Awesome. I remember doing a video of Anthony Fasano's catches over the deep middle to show that he could make plays. A couple of those big plays was on Gary Guyton when he was in NE.

I'd like to believe that with the Dolphins defense being great at stopping the run, and Arizona not being able to run the ball well (especially with Beanie Wells hurt) that that would lead to some turnovers. I'd LIKE to believe that. The most disappointing thing about last week was that the D only forced one turnover. You force Sanchez to throw that many times, you gotta get more than one INT.

EDIT: I'm an idiot he had two INT's.

The defensive backs went hard after the ball against Sanchez. Sean Smith was biting on everything, which is why he got so thoroughly torched on double moves by Stephen Hill and Chaz Schilens (though both passes fell incomplete due to poor accuracy). Richard Marshall was biting hard on everything. Chris Clemons was even pulling the trigger. They expected to get turnovers from Sanchez and they got them.

I expect them to approach Kevin Kolb the same way because he's as bad as Sanchez or maybe even worse when it comes to the sheer number of times he throws up a ball that you can pick off. The exception could be whoever ends up on Larry Fitzgerald, they could naturally find themselves being a little conservative against him. Ironically that might be exactly what you don't want to do. Since he's such a RAC threat, playing conservatively against him and giving him space underneath mght lead you to end up looking silly unless you're extremely disciplined.

Someone mentioned Darnell Dockett, that he might be banged up or not playing. I haven't heard anything about that but his absence would be huge.

If Dockett doesn't play that is a huge break for Miami. Guy is a monster.

Free agency was not really going to be the answer anyway. I have always heard Ireland say it is good to have competition. The secondary and corner specfically, as well as receiver, are two areas that could use competition. I don't know of a fa corner that is doing well because free agency really isn't the answer. I know that sounds like a contridiction. Philbin is focused on building through the draft anyway. It will take a few of those for this team.

And my question of moves since the first game really has more to do with having sufficient depth and creating competition. I don't know that I know what players would fill those roles. Just was curious about signing dts and safeties, and linebackers when depth at secondary and more competition at wr was needed.

well if you look at it, we are 1-2 almost 2-1 every game competitive minus the 6 minutes collapse against houston, the secondary will probably rebuild through the draft next year, i'm not really comfortable how the talent at CB is in next years draft though

The Pressley kid they have on the practice squad was known for his offensive play at App. St. But he is an athlete. I would love to see how he develops and would love to see him get to the roster this year.
