Interesting, we all sort of suspected Hoodie would be interested in Taylor.

My question besides them being desperate for ANY sort of pass rush last year, is why?? The guy sucks at this point in his career.....

It just shows the level of desperation that BB must have been in. Plus, after being haunted by JT for so many years, he probably figured he could revive his career and squeeze 1 or 2 years of high level play out of him like he did Moss. Either way, I was glad as hell that JT was so mediocre last season for the Jets.

Show's JT was all about the money, because he would've made the patriots horrible pass rush better, he was just a throw in on an already great defense in NY. But he saw the puke green and white dollar signs and came running like a starving child at a dinner table.

Not to anyone who bothers to actually study the Patriots’ personnel moves. Belichick loves signing Dolphins because we beat him so many times.

    Well away from here
Also drives home the point about coaching being important. Some of our players have done very well up there, and you can probably book it that Brown if unsigned by us goes North. Quiet guy, does his job and goes home, plays the role of a cog well enough, and you can bet Brady would love his hands.

This isn't all that surprising - the Patriots excel in convincing veterans to play out the final few years with them to win a ring. The Jets throw money around.

    JT went for the money.

That isn't necessarily a terrible thing - especially when you consider the Jets and Pats are on a fairly level field in terms of talent. JT probably thought the chance to win a ring was about equal, he liked Rex Ryan more and made more money.

Well, Ryan. Belichick might have been calling him every day, but at least he wasn't the one who offered him both a "handy" and a "footy" to sign with his team.

Yeah that was definitely the case in the past but the Jets last season were closer to being a championship team than the Pats. A lot of people had them ahead of or passing the Pats last offseason. When it came down to it those people ended up being right. The Pats had Tom Brady making them look better than they were. Of course we don't want to let reality get in the way of our JT bashing. Let's all just pretend he took a big payday to go play for a bottom feeder. Not to mention other factors such as Rex Ryan being a much more player friendly coach than Bellicheat. If some random player would have taken more money to play for Indianapolis instead of Bellicheat nobody would be saying, 'that guy is all about the money instead of championships.'

So does this squash the "nobody else wanted JT" argument?

Nice rebuttle. Jets offered more, Patriots had/have a better offense.....he would've been a bigger piece to their TEAM puzzle with their need of a pass rush, but the Jets offered more $$$$.

    But yeah.....it's "complete nonsense"

The funniest part is that the Jests paid $4 million for a washed up player who basically added nothing.

    Way to go, Fatboy.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Belichick is an EGO MANIAC. Look at his personel moves with former AFC East players alone. The guy loves taking former Jets, Bills and Dolphins players and putting them on his team. He feels he can win with anyone and doing so with his main rivals castoffs is splooge-tastic for him. It is why Danny Woodhead is an everydown back for him. It is why Welker is the focal point of the offense. It is why he went hard after Taylor and Thomas.

The guy believes his own press clippings at this point.

I explained in post 11 why it's nonsense. The Patriots were regarded as a rebuilding team that would be in the mix mostly due to Brady. Something that turned out to be completely true. The Jets had already done more than the Pats and were poised to repeat that. Your suggestion that he went there 'just for the money' is illogical because of simple facts. When people 'go for the money' that means they pass up contending teams for the highest bidder no matter what that team's situation might be. I guess you're trying to claim he would have had more snaps in NE or something. Weak argument especially considering he got plenty in NY. Probably all he wanted at 37 years old. And the Jets were not good at getting sacks either BTW. They had lots of fancy blitzes but in 09 were not particularly great at actually getting to the QB. They didn't sign a declining 37 year old DE/LB who trash talked their team for years because they loved his smile.

But I'd love to hear a logical reason why going to a team that has nearly made the Super Bowl twice now is 'being all about the money.' It's not 2003 anymore. The Pats aren't the Super Bowl golden ticket anymore.

Jason Taylor made his love for the patriots, belicheck, and brady KNOWN clearly as a dolphin.....him and Brady were close....he respects belicheck, he also made it COMPLETLEY known how much he absolutley loathed the ny jets fanbase, franchise, team, stadium etc.......

So, he's a free agent.....Bill Belicheck himself is calling him daily.....yet....the jets offer him 4 million dollars, a number (even the article says) the pats couldnt/wouldnt match....and he goes to the jets.....tell me how its not for the money?!!??!

Because the Jets were closer to the Super Bowl. He had some of the best games of his career vs. Brady and the Pats. I'd hardly say he was ever sitting there 'dreaming of being on the other sideline.' I'm sure he did respect the Pats more than the Jets throughout his career. Who doesn't? The simple fact is that the Jets were widely regarded as being closer to a Super Bowl than the Pats. This was proven at the end of the season. They also had a player's coach with a hundred times the charisma of Bill Bellichick. So no, it's not some case of ALL about the money. That's what you say when players go to bottom feeders. I'm sure money was a factor but saying 'Oh yeah it was ALL money' is just ignoring obvious things. Since he's so greedy why did he flirt with Bellicheat in the 2009 offseason and then go play for fist pumper for dirt cheap?
