Goodman's second half to this season is making a very strong argument that he should be re-signed to remain a starter. Shutdown cornerbacks are one of the most expensive positions to acquire in free agency, and there is a lot of risk involved in picking one early in the first round of the 2009 draft....

"Everybody looks for the corner, the shutdown corner kind of guy that can get on anybody and just kind of shut him down," defensive coordinator Paul Pasqauloni said when asked what he's looking for at the position. "Good vision when you're playing zones, you want great vision on the ball and real range in the coverage. Then, if you want to be greedy about it, you'd love to have the guy who's tough against the run and a good run support guy, too. Those types of corners to me, they're rare commodities to have all those things
