It would appear they want to be at the table as truly a third party. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6737912
And this would be the season retired players really have no interest in getting started this could be bad.
The retired players built this league into what it is and mabey they do deserve more.Alot of old crippled ex players limping around,I know they chose this profession but once the playing days are over most get tossed out with the garbage.
Typical. These current negotiations between the NFLPA and owners include measures to take care of retired players better than the NFL ever has. And so naturally, the retired players are more vocal and inflamed than ever about the direction of the negotiations.
Don't think it's an issue. No way the Judge halts the mediation. The retired players have already intervened and could theoretically object to any proposed settlement, but they don't have a right to be at the bargaining table. The anti-trust case is about current/future players. The retired player's inetrests are really ancillary.
I know very little on the retired players standing in a new CBA. I did not think they to sign off on anything. Any help on this?
Slightly off topic, but Marcus Allen's name is attached to this. I know Marcus a little bit through my connections with the Raiders and as of a couple of years ago, dude still looks like he could play, and play well. That isn't to say he isn't hurting and couldn't use help with medical issues, but the guy looked fantastic. Perhaps I just wanted to name drop...
