http://www.fox28.com/News/index.php?ID=35277 "They found 82% of them had abnormal narrowing and blockages in their arteries."
I am assuming because of just pure obesity. I had a friend who had good chances of blockages in arteries and other severe problems because of being overweight at a young age. Fortunately, he didn't witness those problems because he went on a diet and lost 62 pounds. This stat shows that a young player or any aged man/woman are too heavy for their ages which leads to troubles and deaths such as the unfortunate one we witnessed a couple days ago with Heath Benedict. Many people rely on fast food for their hunger instead of cooked/home made food and I believe its one of the reasons (the other being overeating) for the obesity in this country. If the country was to somehow disable some of the fast food restaurants, I dont think we would have this high of a percentage of deaths/troubles.
thats an interesting fact, especially considering these guys are professional athletes, and you would expect them to be in the best of health.
Yeah you would expect them to be lol thats the key word, expect. Hasn't this problem been reoccuring every year since the linemens death in San Fran about three/four years ago? I think they will have to do something about this. I wouldn't be surprised if teams go to the zone blocking scheme and have their linemen like the Broncos who are all under 300.
thats a pretty good possibility. its not just lineman though... corey stringer wasnt an OL... i know size is a valuable thing in this league... but it doesnt mean we should be jeopardizing players' lives and health though.
I agree with you. I think they should take this a step further and go to the normal living human beings like I said in the long *** post earlier in this thread. I dont feel like explaining it lol.
yeah i hear ya. thats the scary thing of the pro sports world.... its the business side of things. because the owners... really couldnt care less it seems. bottom line, something needs to be done thats for sure, or its only going to get worse
I agree. NFL organizations seem to only look to the gaming aspect of football and choose to ignore the health. Do they know that if your not healthy, you can't play? If your players are dying, they can't play? Lol, they deffniitely need to look at this and I think it should be looked at right now at their owners meetings or whatever they call them (damn baseball got me all twisted).
