Report: Visit to Dolphins' HQ widens Taylor-Parcells rift

The NFL draft passed without the Miami Dolphins trading Jason Taylor, but that doesn't mean all is well with the team's star defensive player and new football czar Bill Parcells.
Taylor recently became incensed with Parcells during a recent visit to team headquarters, according to the Miami Herald. Taylor popped in on the Dolphins' executive vice president while he was watching tape, but the newspaper said Parcells ignored Taylor without speaking a word to him.
Taylor was taking a break from "Dancing With the Stars" when he stopped in to visit Dolphins players in South Florida. According to the Herald, after receiving a warm reception from his teammates, Taylor decided to seek out Parcells.
But according to the Herald, Parcells had no interest in talking to Taylor. Parcells even looked at Taylor, the newspaper reported, before going back to watching tape.
Parcells gives Taylor the silent treatment
Parcells cherishes his interaction with players more than most people realize. He vowed to stay out of the spotlight and allow Ireland and Sparano to run the show, but that's really difficult for him. This is the time of year when, as a coach, he would bond players. That's not his job now, but old habits die hard.
He has no use for Taylor right now because the All-Pro defensive end chose dancing over Parcells' "voluntary" offseason program. This is a stare down that Taylor has no chance of winning. He's built up a lot of credibility in South Florida over the years, but it doesn't rival what Parcells showed up with.
Ireland didn't want to discuss Taylor when I had him on the phone Monday, but it's pretty obvious the Dolphins are prepared to move on without him. The problem is that Taylor's trade value was probably as high as it will ever be during the draft.
This soap opera is far from over, but my guess is that Taylor remains with the team.

I like that Parcells gave JT the cold shoulder. Since Jimmy Johnson left, Jason Taylor has acted like he was the one in charge. He walked on Wannstedt, Nick Saban gave him his way, and he totally disrespected Cameron. JT is a player. He is not above any team. He is PART of the team. And he needs to be put in his place. He's put himself above everyone else on the Dolphins team, and Frankly, I'm tired of it. He needs to be knocked down a few notches.

What's a year without some media-concocted soap opera drama with the Phins?

Everyone in the league knows Parcells' reputation. Football first and always, and he expects the same from his players. JT knew it, and still went ahead with Dancing while his teamates were working in the off season program. Is it mandatory? No, but we all know what that means in the NFL.
So, he looks in on Parcells and expects, what? BP to show him some dance steps?
Now BP's response was pretty bush league IMO, but not unexpected. By creating this big rift, BP runs the risk that JT retires and heads to Hollywood. Then you get nothing for him. I think BP thinks he's motivating JT to put up a monster pre-season/early season and then deal him for more than he could have gotten prior to this year's draft. We'll see how it works out.
