douchey. Well I actually had the Jets taking Jerry Hughes so if this makes them pass him then I'm for it.

It's not like he's choosing between the jets and us. From what I understand we are unwilling to offer him anything until after the draft. So as I read that we are going to try and replace him and if we can't we will offer a contract.

That's a pretty crappy way to be treated IMO.

The Dolphins are jerking him around. He has every right to look somewhere else for an opportunity.

He can play in 25 other cities and I won't give a hoot....I have a hard time with him in a Jets uniform...that's just wrong!!

if i were the FO, i'd be treating him the same way .... obviously, this regime thinks we can get similar or better play from a rookie (unlike most pundits on this site) .... he was plan B last year -- and there is no reason to change that stance for this year ... JESTS or no JESTS ......

the best i would do for him is tell him that if the draft doesn't work out -- we'd easily match the JESTS offer .... conversely the JESTS are probably saying that theirs is only good to the draft -- so it puts him in a bind of sorts.

But why even look at the Jets.

He's a good player still. He would never last until late August un-signed. There's just too much demand for a playmaker like him. And I'm very confident he would've gotten $1.5 million per year from a handful of teams especially in an uncapped environment.

If he had a true distaste for the Jets he would've never done this. He would've waited it out a little longer for another team to knock on his door, and there's little doubt in my mind there would've been teams knockin

I wouldn't. I mean you never know what your going to get until you get it on the field. Perhaps we wiff and the player we draft to replace him just isnt good (worst case) or needs some time to develop (more likely). What we could sign him for especially in an uncapped year is peanuts.

I think the Jets offer is 2 years 3.5 million or close to it. Come on you sign him and if you hit a home run and find you don't need JT then you simply let him go. Keeping what essentially is out best OLB option that's not in the draft or on the roster at bay just doesn't make any sense to me.

But that's JMO.

Let me also add, that I think this is a complete FU from the Jets.

Had Jason Taylor been a career say Green Bay Packer, I don't think they look his way. Not when they already have the #1 ranked defense and only 1 available FA signing slot.

IMO, this is purely a signing out of spite.

Are you even aware that the Dolphins DID NOT offer JT a contract to date??
Living in NY I would hate to see him in a Jets uniform, it would sicken me to death,but I wouldnt blame Jason for it in the least. He stated he wants to remain a Dolphin. What more can he do?

I have a question for you, actually for ALL Dolphins fans. If the Jets organization offered you a job for, say 250 grand a year, would you take it? Or are you too loyal to the Dolphins as a fan- and your current job,- to take it?

I don't like the idea of Jason Taylor playing for the Jets any more than anyone else but the Dolphins are stringing him along, until, and if they draft a DE/LB in the draft. They traded him to the Redskins for a 2nd round choice and he still came back home and showed his Dolphin pride. Now they are jerking him around again and expect him to stay at home and twittle his thumbs until they decide what they want to do with him. The Jets are actively pursuing him and making it known how much they respect and want him.
They obviously see value in Jason Taylor that the Dolphons don't or wont.
I don't like it but I can understand why.

Good to see there are a few that actually get it.

Jets don't want him for his value to their D.They are good enough without him. They are paying him for his knowledge in beating US twice next season or to call the FO's hand and sign him for more than he's worth.

If he signs with the Jets he's dead to me.

I don't want to hear all this...... "well what is he supposed to do if we don't sign him"

If the Jets are interested enough then there has to be another team besides the team he so often trashed and said he hated he could go to.

There are principles.
If he goes to NY he's a lifelong Jet as far as I"m concerned.

I was out of work for 9 months last year.

A company I knew for a fact was dirty and mafia owned offered me a job and I turned it down.

Principles.

Don't make this a feast or famine thing either.
If there is one team willing there is another.
If he goes there it's out of spite.
If he chooses the spite route then I will as well.

Jason Taylor has more than enough money to call it a career at this point I'm sure. As miserable as he was in Washington, seriously, does he think that he'll be happier with the Jets? As it stands their fanbase is split between wanting to quit as fans over this, and accepting it if it's the best for the team. Does he think he's not going to have an awful time there too?

I don't think Taylor will be the player he was even this year with us, if he goes there. I think he'll be the Redskins Taylor all over again. So I'm not overly worried about it.

That said, I am really disappointed in him. I'm not angry, I won't hate him, but seriously, just plain disappointed in his morality on the issue.

This is a touchy subject for all of us, but really, what do you expect him to do? If you had one company telling you "we might hire you, but first they had to see if there were any younger, cheaper alternatives out there" and another company saying, "come on down, we'll pay you well and you will be a big part of our company" what would you do? And stuff it with the "He's got tons of money and doesn't need to play." He's a football player and deserves to play the game as long as he wants. And he deserves to play for whoever offers him the most money and best situation.

It's a no brainer. It's sad our FO didn't treat him with more respect. If in the long run parting ways with JT now is better for our team I'll be able to forgive them. If it ends up hurting us and we don't find a replacement, and worse yet, JT hurts us as a JET then that will be another mistake under their belts.

I'm just as hurt by this as any of you, but I understand why JT is doing it. Yes, I'll lose respect for him. I'll have to if he's a Jet. It's the law and order of things. And that's what makes this sad for me. I'll have to hate him and I'm not sure if he deserves that. Oh well. Life goes on.

So far there is NONE ! Thats the point I`m trying to make.
If there were other teams knocking on his door and he chose the Jets,Then he can go to hell. IF the Jets are the only team to make him an offer whats he supposed to do retire because us fans will feel slighted otherwise ? Thats just rediculous. And lets not forget, JT didnt sign with them yet anyway. He still is waiting for the Dolphins to come forward.
