I know a lot of people who were fired and loved by the people who worked for them. The people in charge didn't like X or Y and that is why they were let go. One does not have to be mutually exclusive from the other.

    And?

So they put Stephen Ross through the ringer in (some of) the court of public opinion. Can't see how they win the lawsuit against him, however. No amount of corroborating evidence of the credibility of Flores's claim determines that an organization must have the same goals as its employees.

What I want to know is, did Flores take the 100k for each of the 11 losses in 2019? If so, is he going to give the $1.1m back to the organisation?

Nice work if you can get it.

It's my guess that Ross made the offer after the first win or two when it seemed the team may actually get "passed" by the Bengals permanently. It doesn't sound like an offer made at the start or during the interview.

Dolf I've no idea what you've said on this topic previously, or what you think. My post wasn't aimed at you and I wasn't making any particular point other than to provide confirmation to the idea that there is, according to this lawyer, more to this allegation than just a conversation. That's all.

he is not fixing anything. He was hired. He was fired. His feelings got hurt. He did make things worse for himself and all the others.

and what change exactly do you think he is trying to make for the better? Were minorities not already hired as coaches? Forcing someone to hire someone they may not want is certainly not going to make things better. And if they were thinking about hiring a minority why would they now if they can get sued for firing them?

Can he prove he is a better coach then the other Brian?

I have always defended Ross but no more. If this crap is in fact true he has set this franchise back to the stone age and we won't begin to recover until he is gone. As others have already said, Who the heck is going to want to come on board as the head coach? This is total Clown show and Ross is the Ringmaster.

The NFL needs to come down on him hard. Unfortunately that means the Dolphins are going to be whacked in the process.

Right I don't get it. What exactly is the purpose of this lawsuit? Is the trying to say, "hey it isn't that I am tough to deal with, it is because I did not go along with the evil plan. I'm really a great guy and should be hired. "

You dont get it and are probably being willfully obtuse. There is one black coach out of 32 teams in a league that is 70% black. Figure it out. Watch mike mccarthy on a sideline and tell me he deserves one of the most coveted jobs in US sports. Just a example.

Anyhow: congrats Stephen Ross on taking over one of the most historic and revered franchises in football and turning us into a complete joke.

From 1977 to 2003, the once proud Miami Dolphins had ONE losing season. Since Stephen Ross became owner in 2008, we have had 4 winning seasons.

and im supposed to believe Brian Flores was the problem, who accounted for 50% of Ross winning seasons. This little evil elf man is personally trying to ruin football for all of us.

Not understanding my point here Bud.Flores was wrong benching Fitz in 2020 as he was the better qb.2019 was a total different situation we were supposed to get the number 1 pick and that cost us Burrow!.2020 the damage was already done and we were trying to win.

Right, my response wasn't directed at you, but rather his attorney who seems to believe corroborating evidence of something immaterial means something.

It is my understanding the under Rooney Rule a minority candidate from outside the organization must be interviewed. So the Giants could not just hire Daboll because they interviewed a minority in the organization. Is this wrong of the league or Giants? NO, it is the rules they are playing by and unfortunately someone has to waste their time in an interview if they have already picked their man. It has happened to me before, lots of jobs have different hiring requirements (number of interviews , etc).

The thing is, even before Flores two other black coaches were interviewed in Patrick Graham and Leslie Frazier by the Giants.

Then Ross made a mistake hiring a coach who wasn't on board with their plan and its all on him. I think he should have played Rosen too but you can't pick and choose when the coach should be able to make this call. People are just flip flopping for whatever fits their agenda.

I have not flipped at all.I wanted Burrow at all costs as you can look me up back in 2019 if you like.
I do find it hard to believe Flores was not told the plan during his interview because Adam Gase was told the plan but refused and that is why he was fired.
My opinion he went against the plan.

Teams should be able to go after THE coach most sought after by their organization.
Each year there is one to three top coaches on most teams radars looking to fill head coach positions.
I get the idea behind the Rooney rule but it's set the NFL up for this type of failure. That top coach won't hang around while teams are interviewing less desirable candidates.
Example if Mike Tomlin was looking for a job guaranteed he is one of those top choices skin color would not be a issue.

No reason to assume this team is competent enough to fill in the coach on what they want.

And he could know the plan is to rebuild without actually thinking they want him to coach to lose.

Lets not also not pretend that every single one of us wouldn't have been calling for his head if they had kept going on the pace they were at the beginning of that season when they looked like the worst team ever.

There was no benefit in loosing this year. We gave up our first rounder to Philly. That was the 'tank for Tua " year and we were not good and got Tua anyway, when if we were really bad we could have gotten Burrow.

Would you please stop it with this Flores is bad because he didn't tank argument. Tanking was a spineless and weak strategy to begin with. No self respecting coach should purposefully go out there and lose games.

And any self respecting organization would be able to build a winner without tanking. Only spineless no talent bums like Ross and Grier would make tanking their main strategy.

We didn't need the tank to get a Franchise QB, we could have picked Herbert for Christ sake, but Grier and Ross ****ed that decision up as well.

Being happy with Burrow doesn't mean you wouldn't have thought Flores was a really terrible coach.

The blame here only really falls on Flores if he agreed to get them the #1 pick and then said screw it. That requires giving the benefit of the doubt to Stephen Ross who deserves none based on his time with Miami

To be honest man that first year I wouldn't not hold it against him with the worst roster in the NFL and knowing it was a tank year.
But after year 3 I knew he was not a good coach.

    From PFT:
Flores appeared on CBS this morning and said that his respect for the sport dictated that he would never tank a season, and that when Ross — who wanted the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft — offered him a $100,000 bonus for every loss in 2019, Flores rejected the offer.

“I didn’t grow up with a lot and this game changed my life. So to attack the integrity of the game, that’s what I felt was happening in that instance, and I wouldn’t stand for it,” Flores said. “I think it hurt my standing within the organization and ultimately was the reason I was let go.”

So why if you were so appalled, did you continue playing for him? And only when you lost your job you came forward. Integrity after the fact. Real integrity would have had him come out and expose it right then and their. But it wouldn't be in his best interest to do so. He wanted to keep his job. That's the opposite of integrity.

And now how can he be hired by anyone? He's shown he cannot be trusted with inside conversations that happen in all kinds of businesses not just the NFL. You have to be able to trust your key people. To bad. I liked him.

Now he's trying to ruin the thing that he professes that changed his life - this game. He may think that he's trying to better it, but we all know that this speed bump will be driven over. And he will get paid off to go away. And maybe THAT is what he's really looking for.

You dont tank. Tanking takes years to wash off an organization. Some of you saying tanking is fine just dont get it. And that’s before the legal implications of a league SPONSORED BY SPORTS BOOKS ( one of which ROSS OWNS) having a team actively throw games.
If Flores has a scintilla of evidence on the tanking thing, “protect the shield” will dictate Ross gets gone. Its common sense.

And another thing: this all came out bc Ross put on the fullcourt press blasting bc Flores after canning him. Couldnt just amicably split. Ross went salted earth. He NEEDED to justify it bc he has rabbit ears about bad PR and went on offensive which was already hurting Flores for future jobs. Just a complete clown.

I have worked in the sports field my whole life, and yes for a few pro teams. I have never seen a coach try to loose a game. As a fan I have wanted it because of draft position, but no self respecting coach would deliberately loose on purpose. I understand both Ross and Flores stance on this matter, both have a point, but only one owns the team. If he didn't like the position he was put in then he should have quit before he got fired. I believe rumor had Flores being the bad guy in this firing (he was hard to work with) and now he shifted blame to Ross by doing what he did.

I don’t remember many people complaining when we were tanking for the #1 pick two years ago. Most of the complaining started when they won a few games and the Bengals “passed” Miami for the worst record.
