I just don't think it's that bad. He wanted the 1st pick. Flores wouldn't do what he was told. He got fired. Principled people are fired all the time over their principled stand. Sucks but when you the owner you get to own. If I spent a billions on buying a franchise I sure as hell would want the employees doing what they're told. Especially if it meant loosing out on a "generational" QB. I want them to win every game but we knew that was going ot be a losing season. So winning 6 games got us what?

Just let owners hire who they want to hire.If I was an owner and the coach is ,orange,pink, blue whatever I would hire them if I feel they can win me games.
But you should never be forced to hire somebody because of the color of their skin.

This is super interesting in how it's a springboard. I wonder how many others will add their names/stories, and what it may do. That could quickly take this story to an incredible level. Things came close to breaking with the Snyder "investigation" and the Flores suit may just break the dam.

Tell that to the sports books and gamblers. tampering will be picks alone. This could be the hammer. You dont think leagues will go nuts about throwing games? Really?

The Rooney Rule isn't forcing anyone to be hired, it's forcing a group of old white dudes who say things like "the inmates running the prison" in regards to the players to actually consider black people in positions of authority.

It's also not getting them in trouble unless you just naturally think eliminating it would increase black representation among coaches? C'mon. Also, who YOU would hire is irrelevant until and unless you become an NFL owner.

Unless Ross was stupid enough to put it in writing, I think the owners will sweep it under the rug.

It doesn't sound like Flores has any proof about the 100g for a loss but if he does Ross would have to sell the team.Unfortunately the next owner in line is just another NY business man who is possibly a patriots fan.

Something I noticed in the text exchange, Flores called Belichick "coach" through out it until Belichick tells him he fucked up and thought he was talking to Daboll, then it was "Thanks Bill".

That's pretty significant message Flores sent him, it's been over 40 years and when I see my past HS coaches, it's still always "coach" like it was in school because it's my way showing appreciation, even if they were crummy coaches. Showing respect.

For the franchise, this is very damning and may cost Ross the team. But that's not what this is about, it's so much bigger than that for countless coaches and executives. This very well could change the NFL as we know it.

Also, notice that this is a class action- which means there's more than just Flores who will be stepping up and adding their name to the lawsuit. This will be the story of the off-season.

And for the folks that believe Flores is lying, you have to realize that he just sabotaged his entire career. He's done in the NFL and there's nothing for him to personally gain from this (besides money). He's doing this to better the league, even though he won't be a part of it.

Yeah, amongst other things. Ross wouldn't have hired Flores if Flores had been honest in the interview process, and told them that he was going to try to win at any cost. I get what you're saying, and Flores certainly knew that he was coaching a garbage team. If Ross hired him on the premise that he was to lose every game, then Ross does not belong in the NFL. That's not a Flores fault, and it's incredibly insulting to the players, coaches, fans, etc.

For example, I know for a fact there's several on this site with season tickets- was it "right" for them to pay $200+ a game to see a rigged contest? Heck no! Was it right for me to pay $300 for the Sunday Ticket to watch them that year? Heck no! Ross screwed over a lot more than Brian Flores with that expectation...it goes against everything professional sports is supposed to stand for.

I'm sure teams have intentionally lost in the past. Heck, some probably intentionally lost last year. But putting it in writing with a bonus for losing is unheard of in professional sports. There's just no way that was disclosed in the interviews. If it was, then why bribe Flores at all?

I paid 300+ for Sunday ticket that year and once I saw Burrow in Sept against Texas I wanted the phins to lose every game to get him.I didn't give a shit about the money if it brings playoffs teams to follow.
I have paid for it since NFL ticket first started and guess what? I literally just cancelled directtv because this team will never change.Fucked up the tank and passed on Herbert.

The entire world knew we were tanking and there was liberal talk of an 0-16 or 1-15 season even without the payments. If you still shelled out money, that's on you.

Also, for season ticket holders, I imagine they could have consoled themselves sitting in their seats watching Burrow the way Cinci fans are.
