I thought the same thing about Bienemy - maybe he is a terrible interview, I don’t know.
Part of the issue with racism is sometimes we forget it's not always an active in your face thing. Far more often it manifests in smaller and more subtle ways. Is it likely that everyone interviewing Bienemy is secretly a card carrying KKK member? Nah. But it's possible they are letting subtle bias or prejudice or similar cloud their thinking or influence their decisions.
If he thought this behavior was so terrible, how come he didn't come out and say so in 2019?
Oh yeah, he got fired and can't get a job.
That's how it usually works.
This is probably my last year of paying for it as well- I've had it for 11 years now and the price continues to go up. Really hoping Amazon gets it in 2023 and has better options/pricing.
Two words- the players.
What an epic mess. It might be a blessing in disguise if Ross is pushed behind the scenes to sell the team and retire from NFL involvement though.
BTW, if Ross offered extra money to Flores to lose? That means it was NEVER part of the deal when Flo took the job. He was probably told, "We are stripping down the roster to get picks and cap space for the rebuild." which was actually true.
This may only be the tip of the iceberg though, so we'll have to see how events unfold over the coming days, weeks, and months. The coaching search is going to be really interesting too.
The ones he purposely sabotaged or not?
Free with Prime would be nice.
No chance haha.
Well, you'd ONLY be allowed to stream Miami games, so....
What free agent will sign with an ownership that literally pays to lose?
Before we propose Brian Flores for sainthood...He wanted to trade multiple draft picks for Watson, a guy accused of serial sexual misconduct and will be facing suspension no matter what. That's if he's not in jail...
This lawsuit is ridiculous. It's entirely based on BB basically saying, "I heard you got the job." to the wrong guy. Hearsay. He just threw away his career because of hearsay. Unproveable and possibly untrue. He is 100% at fault for his offensive failures, his dumb FA signings, and inability to get along with anyone. Oh and he specifically defied his Boss. The fact that Ross had to try and bribe him is insane... I own the team, **** you.
The ones who like money and know that situations and context matter? The entire point of tanking is to lose in the short term to optimize longer term success. This just puts a potential dollar figure on it.
So did Ross
That's a kind of racism you can't stop by regulations, though.
I hope he can at least get another job in the league as a coordinator after this. I don't know man, I thought Flores was a bit more level headed than this. I'm willing to bet that almost every owner in the league has behind the scene meetings with coaches, players, etc. I can guarantee you there are a ton of off the book cash transactions that take place. I mean so what? Ross asked Flores to tank one season for a shot at Joe Burrow. Everyone knew Burrow was a can't miss, and Ross knew it too. Really...So Fking what? Now Flores is gonna run and tell on him? Cmon man! It was blatantly obvious we were tanking that 2019 season. Josh Rosen should have remained tank commander. It was a race we were clearing leading for the majority of the season. Ross asked Flores to see it through to better our future, and offered him quite the incentive to do so. It's not like he asked him to cover up a murder. I mean, I get it...We all want and should do the right thing in life, but...I hate to say...THAT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO! In regards to US, it feels like Flores is being a bit petty about this. Can any of you honestly say that if you were Stephen Ross, you would have done differently? I know if I had that type of money, I would have been like "Yo, Brian, I love what you're doing here bud, the guys really love you too, but we have a chance to get Joe Burrow. You have a chance at becoming a HOF coach if we draft him, you're going to play in Super Bowls and coach a perennial playoff team for a long time, wadda ya say bud? 100K for a few more L's"
He was trying to get Joe Burrow. We didn't even sign any free agents that offseason other than Fitzpatrick. The team was hot *** grease anyway that year. Everyone knew it before the year started that it was going to be a tank season. The whole idea/plan was to draft Burrow and then rebuild with the war chest of draft picks we collected. Great plan if you ask me and a small price to pay to achieve prominence among the league again.
Flores' career is over in the NFL. What idiot would hire him knowing there's a good chance he'll just turn around and sue the ownership? Can't trust him with anything now. After this news, I'm really glad we got rid of him.
And Fitz was the dumbest signing. Not for him we probally wouldn't have won a game.
Im shocked at how many are downplaying the allegations against Ross…
I would say right now that allegation is a bigger story than the racism allegation because that one can actually stick in a long court battle. The racism allegation is going to die down. I think the Giants or Broncos have pretty much killed that lawsuit with their statements today. It sucks that minorities are used in that way, but they did nothing wrong with their search.
but if he has any evidence on Ross, whether it’s phone logs or anything, that story is not going to go away. That is bad in so many levels.
you all got to stop defending it with “we couldve had burrow”. I wish we did get Burrow, our roster was terrible and we overachieved to get some meaningless wins we probably had no reason to win.. But i would never root for us blatantly throw games. The fact that Flores got us to win any games that season is still remarkable to me… that roster was ***.. the 2020 roster was ***… and this past seasons roster was ***…
At this point i see us promoting someone already on the staff as head coach..
Apple is looking to get it I hear very interested they have no sports coverage
No, I don't have to stop and I'm not going to. And if Ross was stupid enough to put the directive to lose in writing, he deserves what he gets. But I doubt he was. That's the kind of thing you say in person, with no witnesses.
Also this team just can’t stop Messi g up can we? Since Ross joined we are always into some drama. Seriously any big head coach will not play for this team next year forget harbaugh forget any except McDaniel (maybe) but if he takes it he will get blasted as an Uncle Tom since he’s mixed race. Vance Jospeh might be the best candidate we have going forward. I’m seriously considering handing in my fandom card on this team because of the owner and management constantly screwing things up!
Harbaugh is the only big head coach and he looks to be going to the Vikings.
Also, do you know McDaniel's other race? I haven't seen anywhere that says he is half black
Ross is a big incompetent clown. He deserves all the lawsuits and **** he gets for this.
That's the thing. You can't legislate it away. The whole nature of an interview is to find out whether there's a fit between the applicant and the company. You can look at the resume to see bona fides but it comes down to more than that.
And in the NFL, you can look at thousands of hours of tape. How do you find a way to quantify or qualify "fit"? A lot of hiring managers want to give a break to candidates who remind them of themselves at a young age. Or their kids. And well, if most hiring managers are white and see two interviewing candidates as a tossup, I imagine a significant number will default to personal bias, if not overt racial discrimination.
I once took part in an open interview session. There were 30+ people there, all wearing power suits; all holding resumes with roughly the same qualifications as I had. I'd been out of the game for nearly two years and didn't think I had a chance. But I interviewed with somebody who probably looked a lot like I do now. It was the most comfortable interview I ever had and I know it's because he wanted me to succeed. I'm 100% sure our similarities are the reason why I got a second and third interview. Of course, the next two interviews didn't take place with someone of my particular ethnicity, but I wouldn't have had a chance for the job (which I landed, and led to a 20 year career) had the first guy not liked me as much as my resume.
That's human nature. I have no doubts Flo is right about everything he's saying. I just don't see how you get past the old boy network when the old boy doesn't include people like you. I also don't see how you compel oligarchs to do anything they don't want to do. They control the levers of power and nobody tells them how to run their businesses.
So, let me get this straight...
FIRST Ross asked Flores to tank for Burrow, but he refused out of pride. Ok, cool, I get that.
THEN Ross asked Flores to meet with Brady, but he refused because of "tampering"....Ok, this is lame. I get "tampering" is a rule, but we KNOW everyone breaks it, including his 'ole buddy Bill, and the team that landed him likely had a clandestine meeting or two. This smells of Flores not wanting to piss off BB more than it does of him wanting to help the Dolphins.
THEN we use a top 5 pick on a QB and Flores drags his feet, sits, him, plays him, pulls him quickly, and gets in shouting matches with him.
Why is it suprising that he's no longer in Miami?
Flores was fine with everything while he had a job or he thought he had the prospects of a new job. Once that well dried up he played the race card. If he came out with this while he was still the coach and went against the owner it would have been different. Hell if ross really did pay 100k for losing then flores is complicit in any crimes that would entail. If he refused to get paid then its hearsay unless he somehow recorded ross saying this or had it in writing.
Bienemy has sexual harassment/rape allegations in his past along with some arrests and a bullying scandal. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago teams would have considered them old news and overlooked them, but in the twitter years it doesn’t matter how long ago 8n the past you did something bad.
Stephen Ross is a piece of ****, a loser and a scumbag. Paying your coach to purposefully throw games is a disgrace and hopefully it leads to him getting a permanent ban from the league which would force him to sell the team. The league should also undo his succession plan, no way that scumbag should choose his successor.
Flores should be thankful he was even hired by the Dolphins. He'll probably never see the sidelines of the NFL again. So glad this chump is gone.
I always felt Flores got hired because of the color of his skin. You won't find too many NFL teams hiring position coaches for Head coaching positions.
Also surely there has to be video footage of Flores stomping off Ross' yacht after he found out Brady was going to be there.
This sounds like a class action case of butthurt caused by Belichicks text messages.
This all sucks for us because Ross is such a weakling he'll make the next coach hire based on skin color instead of picking the best man for the job. Though, he's never been smart enough to find the best man, so it's all a moot point I guess.
Again, I'm not saying you're wrong regarding Ross. I think you're correct. It's just that the situation you are saying shouldn't happen is exactly the situation that Flores agreed to come in to. He knew what was expected, took the job, and did the opposite.
The ironic thing is, he screwed himself. Stories you absolutely have to tank of your want that#1 pick. He simply had to do one garbage season, get WHATEVER QB he wanted, then start his dynasty.
It’s hard to know what to believe at this point. How much of what was leaked post-Flores firing was spin to cover up their tracks for firing an AA coach who had some success? How much of this is retaliation? What’s the truth?
One thing is for sure, this will be painful. This hurts our chances with pending HC’s, pending FA’s with our locker room and potentially losing draft picks.
Flores if going to have a hard time pinning racism on Ross because he had one of the most diverse staffs in the NFL. If the allegations of throwing games and tampering with another player are true, he needs to go. Ross has done nothing good for this franchise since he took control. I’m trying to put my personal disdain for what this franchise has become to the side and let due process play out. But it’s really hard to have any hope for this organization and to support an organization that has fallen this low.
What? This is what all teams do, and our team has a history of hiring white coordinators, but flores got hired because he was black? I happen to believe Flores was a great coach and eventually would have figured out the offensive coordinator. But even if you dont believe he was a great coach, you still have to contend with the fact that he was the best coach we've had since Jimmy Johnson.
Let me correct people here- we were tanking for Tua because he was a generational, can't miss prospect that would lead our team for a decade. And that's who we got from the tank.
Burrow entered that college year outside the top 20 overall QB's. He transferred to LSU to be able to compete for a chance to start, and his up/down numbers the year prior were not exactly inspiring. Good arm, pretty good instincts, but he hadn't pulled it all together yet. So no, nobody was tanking for Burrow...he wasn't even being projected as an NFL player at that point.
We were tanking for Tua. We got Tua.
I've already talked about it here before; Burrow's senior year was magical. He pretty much looked like what you've seen the past few Sundays and I think he's had very little growth in the NFL. That senior year he figured out how to stay calm in the pocket and everything just clicked. It was shocking since that kind of thing just doesn't happen, and I was so sure he was a "perfect prospect" that it almost scared me. You just don't see a jump like that- was it a one-year fluke? The tape doesn't lie but what scouts were seeing just didn't make any sense.
I said all of that backstory to get to the real point- we did inquire about moving to #1 overall. But that doesn't mean we would have done it. We were tanking for Tua and Ross/Grier were in love with him. Maybe they take Burrow, but maybe not. So let's not call it a foregone conclusion that if we lost four more, we would have had Burrow. Plenty were calling him a one-year wonder in a potent LSU offense. I didn't see it that way, but there's a real chance Tua would have been the guy no matter what.
Anyone watch his interview?
If he said "I have a gift for coaching" one more time, the absolute ego on this guy.
